Really torn. Common sense dictates downsizing the fleet, and putting in an order for a ZO6. I test-fitted myself into a buddy's Z51 cab last fall, and I can still (barely) get in and out of it without calling for a wrecker. It would mean selling the Beaumont, '78 Olds 442, and my beloved '62 Impala SS 409 coupe, plus the old lady's Mercedes SL, to clear out a garage bay, and permit me to redeploy the capital without making a presentation to the Finance Committee.
So much emotion wrapped up in the various vehicles. Owned the '62 for 23+ years, and it echoes the one I inherited from my grandparents up in BJBurnout country, the Olds is as close as I have been able to find to the first new car I ever owned (custom ordered and built at Ste-Therese), and the Beaumont resonates with my Canadian roots. The SL we've had since shortly after I retired, 20K miles, and is a V12, which they've since quit making. But neither of us drive it, at all.
Time flies-seems like yesterday I was in Nashville and Bowling Green for the 50th Birthday Bash-2003-it was an incredible weekend-with over 20,000 vettes-many displays and of course once in a lifetime seminars with GM builders and racers-not to steal this thread anyone else attended this?I am sure they will do something big for the 75TH-I will be retired by then and will take a week and go !
Keep on Cruising!
Dave
when the C7 came out it started out to make it more affordable again. It was priced the same in the US as Canada. $52,000 for a base hard top and $58,000 for a convertible. I bought one with $10,000 worth of options then another $10,000 for taxes total $78,000. I could not think of buying a new one now at todays price. My 2014 has only 7,000 kms on it. my only regret is its not a Z06
