February 2022 Feature Car

It's my pleasure to feature Henry Schulz's 1962 Acadian Beaumont station wagon for February. Henry bought the Acadian back in 2012 and performed a number of tasteful mods both improving the car's appearance as well as driveability. Take a good look at Henry's wagon. With so few produced you will likely not see another for a long time! Henry tells us more:

"I first saw my car advertised on Auto Trader in 2012. As I kept looking at different cars I always seemed to come back to the ad for this wagon. And the more it appealed to me the more I wanted to make contact with the owner. I did make contact finally but it was with the mother of the owner. The owner had passed away (about 4 years earlier) and had willed the car to her. It was in her garage for that time. The car was just outside of Edmonton Alberta and I am in Vernon BC.

After a few back and forth conversations I made the deal and a buddy and myself took my car hauler to go get it. Now at the time I also had my 63 Beaumont convertible and I thought do I really need another car? Well the rest is history. I have done a lot of work on the car since including the silver paint to the top half of the car. I did the silver because the front of the hood had quite a few stone chips, and that bothered me. It was a more reasonable fix than doing the entire car.

The car was basically original accept for the motor and tranny. There is also a pin stripe separating the two colours. The blue section  was the complete car colour when I first bought it, estimated to be painted in the early 80's. Only 626 of these wagons were produced. It was originally equipped with 194 ci 6 cyl 120 HP engine and 4 bolt 13 inch wheels and tires.

The engine is now a 350 L-82 bored 40 over with 10.5 KB pistons, World Sportsman 202 Dart heads, and a Crane Saturday Night Special cam. Transmission is a TH350 with a 2500 stall convertor. I installed a CPP mini subframe kit (tubular upper and lower control arms) in 2016. In 2017 I installed CPP power steering and front disc brakes. It has 2.5" cross flow exhaust.

I know the previous owner had taken the car to Phoenix and there was a Phoenix license plate of the car when I bought it. I did mail the plate to his mother for her to have. I have a lot of interest from people during the car shows and enjoy discussing with them on the rarity of this car."

Congratulations Henry on having your car at the top of the page. I've seen this car and it definitely is as nice as the pictures show it. Very tastefully done.

There is something about wagons, and yours is a beauty. The 62 door panels have a great look. Love the way the tach is fitted in the centre dash hole! Beautiful car! Congrats!
