Tranny gone south

Drove to a job tonight about 90 minutes from home with no issues. Snow storm moving in so we left for home early. I first thought I was just spinning on ice but its the tranny slipping. 272,000 Km on 2015 GMC Sierra. Have to see if they will rebuild or grab a used tranny

Traditionally those transmissions have been very good. I wouldn't be scared to install a used one.

I have scored really well, over the years, with this website !

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

Not sure if this is your exact model but slim pickings.

For that kind of money you could probably buy a performance trans from Summit.

i checked ebay and they are in the low $2000  to $3000 us dollars range. anyone selling for less had bad feed back. plus a core charge and then install your self. I think the $4200 he quotes and that is all parts replaced looks good. I was thinking $2500. Man times have changed

There's a trans shop next to my work. Good guy. I stopped in last year inquiring about the cost of a rebuild for a trans in a 2005ish Chevy pickup (there was one for sale that needed a trans overhaul). He told me around $1500. Here in PEI a lot of private shops have an hourly rate as low as $30/hr so perhaps that's why it's so much cheaper here.

That is good but bad if you were off work while it was done with your feet up.
