Wow, what's that from? The motor looks like the 60's GM motor but the rest is sure a mystery!

This one came out of a 79 Olds 98. would've never known it was there had I not salvaged the seats and carpet from the car. Hoses are under the carpet and its hidden behind the carpeted panel covering the back of the back seat. Had no grille on it because of the fancy upholsterd package tray. I've had lots of the blower defrosters and the only complaint was from back seat passengers.

They relied on ambient cabin heat to defrost the glass. One of my Skylarks (70) had this. Took forever to have any effect.

That its what I thought. Never took one apart. In fact I only remember them in others peoples cars.

After seeing this post thought there was an electrical grid inside to offer heat.

I had a similar looking heater under the driver's side seat, in my 1955 Pontiac Safari (American).

I always thought it was unique to the Safari, but I guess it was common with GM cars through

the 40's and 50's. I never knew GM had carried on with these type of piped in heaters

beyond being under the seats after the 50's.

Interesting stuff.

Had a 55 Buick with a under seat heater. I was located under the front seat on the passenger side. Worked great'

I have a new aftermarket gas heater that heats the interior and the coolant. Gets plumbed into the gas line, coolant line, and the exhaust.

Never saw one on those Oldsmobile heaters.

I know it's not a Pontiac. Picture taken today at a car show in California. This is my first cousin who I likely haven't met more than 10 times in my whole life. He has owned this car about 60 years!  Love the old school powertrain. I'm not one for these hot rods but when they don't give in to transplanting an LS engine and had the same owner that long, it's pretty cool.

On my way home from the body shop.

Spent some time laughing and crying with the body guy.

He was laughing and I was crying biggrin

Anyways, this blew by me and I am glad I had a photographer in my car.
