Great pictures.  Cool cars!

I thought this was interesting. Sign on the white building with the dormer windows: "THE ROBERT REFORD C..."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Wilson_Reford

Established 1866, and apparently still in business:

https://www.robertreford.com/

Not many "Canadian" companies can say that.

It couldn't have been 86 cents a gallon, as it was 79.9 cents a gallon when I was in high school in the late 70's.  But that was Alberta.

That is probably not a gas price as gas in Ontario mid 60's was around 30 cents a gallon.....smile.

Who remembers gas wars.......sometimes around 22 and 23 cent a gallon and when we would go to

Niagara drag strip some stations were 19 and 20 cents a gallon.......biggrin.

Looking at these pictures, you can well understand why Pontiac was the top seller in Canada in this era.

With the help of my son we were able to dig up a few things in regards to the "Montreal 64" picture.

The street the picture was taken is near 410 Rue St Francois Xavier in Montreal.

Yes that is a gas station and yes that is a sign displaying the price of gas........

The gas station is called Edco (I think there were two stations with that name in Montreal)

We haven't been able to find another picture of the sign or picture of another station (yet)

Now about the gas price sign......

If you look at the picture I have added, you can enlarge this picture + and by holding the left side of the mouse down you can move to the right of the picture.

It's the same picture but more of it, you'll see a reflection of the gas station sign and the price in the window across the street.

In the reflection, the gas price is 36 cents a gallon not 86.

 Excellent research!

This is in Old Montreal and not much has changed since. The two empty lots today are parking lots.
