Seems to be what it takes to keep auto plants working- everywhere in the USA and Canada. Whoever coughs up the best deal. Free enterprise aint free and has never been, we had a great auto manufacturing industry when we had import tariffs.

A new trend in building new locations is going where there is a cheap cost of living and a good labour force. But a good government handout helps.

A conservative estimate, by me, has the assembly employees of Honda Canada contributing over a 100 million a year to income tax.

This plant has been a big success story for all of Canada.

In the long term of things, the "Made In Canada" Civic is by far the most reliable car in North America and forget about "initial quality awards" they don't tell you what happens 3 years down the road.

I give credit to all the companies who build and sell in Canada.

Congratulations Honda and the people of Alliston Ontario !

Your hard work and dedication has paid off.

 Absolutely!

Sometimes it's hard to see the forest through the trees when an article spits out a number that govts are investing (to elicit a negative reaction from its readers) but doesn't mention the net benefits to the region and the economy resulting from such actions.  Typical media tactics to get clicks.

People get up in arms about their tax money going to support private enterprise, and then complain that all the manufacturing jobs and capacity have gone overseas.  One would think that the realities of the pandemic that we have just gone through, combined with supply chain issues and the very real potential of becoming involved in a major war would emphasize the value of retaining manufacturing capability in your own country.  However, this is the reality of the internet, and what media has become...
