What's the strangest thing you have pulled out of a car tire ?

Putting on my Niece's summer tires today.

They were bagged by the dealer.

As my Niece unwrapped the she spotted this.

Large size Zipper.

I carefully dug it out of the tread and got the soap out.

No bubbles but the outer layer does have damage.

Put it on the rear of the front drive car and sent her home with a snow tire in case she has a problem.

She has road side assistance but no mini tire please.

She was only going home for the night and she will check it in the morning.

When I worked at Canadian Tire I put new tires on a taxi. The driver left and was back in about fifteen minutes with a flat tire. I broke down the tire and there was a table knife inside the tire. The knife wasnt bent at all. The cab driver said if he hadnt seen it he never would have believed that there could have been an entire knife in the tire. He had bought road hazard insurance so he only needed to pay for mounting and balancing the tire.

When I managed the Green + Ross Tire Store we found a collection of items that damaged the tire.  Often becoming a detective to determine why the tire had been run flat.

The most troublesome find was after we balanced 4 wheels the customer returned .... same problem...

We knew our balance job was ok so looking further we decided to balance the wheels on the  car.

As the front wheel began to spin it started to hop vigorously.

Took the wheel off and dismounted the tire only to find about 2 quarts of water in the tire.

Someone never drained the compressor and  filled the tire with water.  The suspension showed signs  of many new parts indicating this had been a long standing problem.

I'd say Rick's combination wrench.

I once had a brake shoe puncture my left rear tire, and then it severed the brake line. This was on my work van at 6:30 am on an out of town service call. I put the spare on and drove cautiously.

I had the same thing happen with a broken coil spring on a '83 Olds Omega. Can-opened the driver front inner side wall and tore up the brake line. I was doing about 110 kms. on the 401. It woke me up fast!
