1997 Trans Am WS6 Convertible for sale

This is not a post that I'm horribly excited about making but it has to be done. We are offering our 1997 Trans Am WS6 convertible for sale.

I bought this car in 2011 for my wife as a 25th wedding anniversary gift. Since she first saw a 1994 25th anniversary Trans Am convertible she had always talked about having a triple white Trans Am convertible. We bought this car with approximately 112,000 km on it. It now has 129,000 km on it.

It's a genuine WS6. It's an LT1 with a 4-speed automatic. The car has pretty much every option including leather and a CD stacker (which I've never tried) in the trunk! As a matter of fact I probably haven't had the radio on more than twice.
The car definitely had some performance modifications done to it before we purchased it but the previous owner had not done any of it as well so he really couldn't tell me about any of the modifications. I can see it has Hooker headers, and the exhaust tips say SLP although I don't know if the full system is from them or just the tips. I would suspect the engine has had some work as well because this car is considerably faster than any of the other LT1's  I've owned and I've had at least 5 others.

We have enjoyed this car very much. It has treated us very well. In the 11 years we've owned it I recall changing 1 motor that pops up the headlights, 1 power window motor as well as a set of spark plugs and wires. Just this week I replaced the left rear brake rotor. It measured exactly at the minimum thickness to pass safety so I decided to replace it. The original wheels are in excellent condition especially for being 25 years old. The tires have about 85% to 90% tread. The brake pads and rotors far exceed minimum specifications for safety.

I took a copy of a Manitoba safety inspection list and went over the car. The only thing I found that wouldn't pass was the brake rotor which I changed and the car has never had a catalytic converter on it in the time that we owned it. When I bought the car, it had passed the safety inspection without a converter on it and I never cared that it didn't have one. Oh, it's not the quietest thing... when you stand on it you know the car is around!

As you can see in the pictures the top could use either a repair right at the bottom of the back window on both sides or a replacement. We never worried about it because in the time we owned the car we likely only ever got caught out in the rain 3 or 4 times.

If you're into these Trans Ams you know that a WS6 convertible in this era is an extremely rare car. In 1997 there were 54 of them sold new in Canada. There's a website that gives all the breakdown for the different options on the different models and there's likely not 10 triple white 97 WS6 convertibles in Canada.

I'm asking $11,950 for it. The car does need to be sold so I'm willing to listen to anyone who is serious about buying. I would not hesitate to get in and drive it across country.

You can click on the small images below to blow them up to viewing size. I just didn't want to clutter up the ad with all of them being full size.

Beautiful rag top! Sorry to hear that circumstances require you to part with it. Buy the way did your son sell his black one? Sent from half way to Hawaii on Celebrity Eclipse.

Thanks Mike. If my wife's mobility wasn't an issue this car would be staying right where it is but sadly that is not an option for us. We're thoroughly enjoyed our years in it.

As soon as the Manitoba weather smartens up I'll be putting it on Kijiji.

My wife and I both shed some tears. I tell people I am very happily married, which is true. However, we both say this car was one of the best marriage enhancers we could ever imagine.  We had some wonderful hot summer afternoon tours around southern Manitoba exploring all kinds of back roads (all paved of course), many of which we never knew existed.

Will you be replacing it with something a little more comfortable?

We just don't know yet. It has to be a vehicle that someone with less than ideal mobility is comfortable with when getting in and out. Pretty tough to find a convertible like that.

I remember putting my foot into the pedal on this one when you came to visit!

A 66 Pontiac convertible would be confortable and easier to get in to.

It would have to be a Custom Sport big block 4 speed to be considered.

Although some guys just cut up their car and install factory 4 speed setups and big blocks in small block cars.

And don't get me wrong, we got what we wanted out of the car, it's his to do what he wants with. But he didn't have to give me the line about how his wife wanted it, blah blah blah. If you show up, pay the asking price and take the car, that's all you need to do. No stories necessary.

I will never have an issue with a flipper who is as pleasant to deal with as this buyer was.

Quote from the ad: "previous senior owned GM employee".

At least he didn't call you a little old lady who only drove it to church on Sundays... biggrin

LOL, that would be my wife.

But we never drove it to church because our church is 2 1/2 miles down a gravel road!

At least he put a new top on the car. What would that cost?

He had priced out the top even before he came for the car and I think he figured it would cost him a bit over $1000 to get it all done. That sounded cheap to me but he knew a guy who would do it.
