This looks interesting.  More money but closer to home (divert travel funds to purchase price to even out the cost... but maybe that would be missing the point of a travel adventure?).  Owner asking $9500 but open to offers.

Only thing that would make me nervous is that he says it requires bodywork, but nothing obvious is visible in the pics... so could be a rustbucket that looks great in photos, but not so great on a hoist (?).

Both those Belaires are gone. Just messaged the guy in Hamilton. Says it needs body work but it looks pretty good up from the pics......must mean theres issues underneath. Will keep you posted. Its also close enough that I can drive out there and lay under it have a look. If he says there are body issues its gotta be missing some metal underneath.

That '68 is really cool.  A three on the tree 2 door hardtop must be somewhat scarce.

Hollywood North, busy as usual. They often shoot in Toronto near the zoo on the eastern fringe (even seen fake snow on the ground). They often rent a church on the Danforth at Jackman for movie shoots. One year when I lived in an ancient apartment in Cabbagetown we got a notice telling us they were filming stunts on the roof of our building.

A couple of years back they temporarily turned the old closed-down Bob Johnston Chev Olds dealer (closed 2008, see it here in 2007 courtesy Google: Street View 2007 ) into a movie set. The sign said "Sakaloff Police Department" (sic) and on premises they had a flatbed of old 1970's big sedans turned into a police fleet.

RE: Driving a classic across the country.

These old cars could easily do it when new. We drove coast to coast across Canada, also south to Florida and even the Salt Flats, across Rt. 66 to California and even into Mexico in a '70 Biscayne 250 3-speed. These types of cars are now very crusty veterans and all have been around for decades. Rust never sleeps. Many a jury-rig has possibly been done. Bring a good light, overalls and a creeper before taking the plunge.

I have to say Morty that your old '62 Strato Chief was a really sweet car, but the tin worm that has claimed far too many Pontiacs and others is moving in like terminal cancer. With the numerous issues that all need to be dealt with systematically, you would have been immersed in a money pit (unless you have decent scrap parts at your disposal, can weld and have a place to work). I think you want a driver, so turn-key is important.

I can't even count how many nice cars I have seen, only to discover they are heavily barnacled to the point you'd think they are built out of Corn Flakes underneath. Many people in a restoration get to a certain point but get scared of taking the body off the frame in order to save it. Pass it down the road and nobody in turn deals with it. In the end it becomes scrap, which is sad but also noble in a way.

Yeah got issues at the rear frame.  Right side body mount and rear cross member rusted, hence the sag., good eye!   Weak floor and body lower cheese.   I just saw the post so I repled, I think I commented to someone here before also that I bought it.  Don't know what to do with it yet.  It is my 1st big old 4 door hard top (other than a 72 Olds 98 that I bought and drove when I was a kid).  Now it is just sitting inside waiting for next spring.

You bought it! Awesome. I hope its not too far gone to at least have some fun with it. Yah that sag was a bit telling. Let me know if you need a hand at all, Im not too far away and I'm learning to weld, a good buddy with old stuff is also always around to do some welding.
