1965 parisienne factory tach and plum carpet

2 questions- anyone own a 65 full size with a factory tach? I guess they are pretty rare. Mine doesn't have one, just curious if anyone has come across one?

Also I'm looking to replace the original plum carpet in my 65, having a hard time finding the plum color. Anyone got any info on the plum carpet if it's still available? Thanks

Howdy they are quite rare as I believe they came only on cars that were equipped with a 4 speed. (may have been optional on other cars-not sure) The early ones had no red line so ended up encouraging guys to blow up engines so were replaced later on in the run with a red zone in the tach face. If you find an early one it would be quite rare i think.

65 and 66 would be the same and they used them in American Pontiacs so they can be found but pricey. Usually you have to get the guts reworked by a tach rebuilder so they will work dependably.

Very cool item to have for sure.

No idea on the carpet though.

Chris, Ken has it nailed. Early 65 tach, no redline on the face but an adjustable needle for redline. Later 65 and all of 66 had the redline printed on the face with an adjustable redline needle.

The tach was optional on any 65-66 full size Pontiac but was standard on any 4 speed car, exactly as Ken stated.

Oh, and by the way. Would you consider submitting pictures of your car along with a story on it, how you got it, what you've done to it etc so it could be featured at the top of the page for a month sometime?

Our site admin is Todd, user name Canadian Poncho and he is the one who does the feature stories.
