My brother in law cant find a muffler for his 2014 Mazda CX-5 locally, dealer is about $1,000 plus back ordered. I checked Rockauto, aluminized steel $153.79. Freight by FedEx $1,102, lowest cost shipping by RL (whoever that is), was $487, all in $736!!!! Ive ordered many times from Rockauto, their shipping was always very reasonable.

thats very expensive. id check out ebay. ive bought lots of parts there. no better or worse then anything ive gotten from rock auto. parts avatar etc or my local shop
It's not an issue isolated to RockAuto. Media's been picking up on the outrageous increase in shipping prices in general. Wonder how Amazon is able to continue offering free shipping with Prime.
Amazon free shipping- I go there first for anything I cant find locally for a reasonable price.

Did you happen to check US shipping, or are you too far from a border crossing?

With the price of diesel it's only going to get worse. I order pallets of jars from a company in Dartmouth for work. Shipping has doubled over last year.
Just went to do an order from Rockauto. Think it may be my last. They used to give you a warehouse line for shipping. Some parts from "A" warehouse some from "B" warehouse. So I would select say..wix/hastings/ac delco filters then add them to my other items. Then I would purchase the filter that came from the same warehouse as my other items. This saved me a ton of shipping costs! Seems that option has been deleted. Priced out the same parts at Amazon with free shipping and I get billed in Canadian $$$ so no surcharges. Was almost the same price(Amazon was cheaper) Just needed the parts sooner than later so went with Rockauto. Why do they mess with a good thing???!!!
I've been using Amazon quite a bit lately for parts. I ordered brakes for a neighbors F150 and the seller was great. He emailed me asking to confirm make/model/trim etc to ensure they shipped the correct parts. Price worked out way cheaper than Rock Auto thanks to free shipping. I also ordered the lift pump for our Ford Tractor from Amazon.
