Can you tell I'm excited ? Clint (seventy2plus2) came through and found me an excellent 68 convertible frame that he has graciously dragged out of a farmers field and prepped for me for shipping to Ontario. Thanks a million Clint. He even took some minor injuries (a few stitches) to get it onto a trailer for a quick trip back to his place.
So, my next question to the group is, does anyone know of reliable, affordable shipping options to get it to Ontario ?
I opened a profile on USHIP.CA, but the quotes that came back were ridiculous. Clint suggested Blairco Transport, Inc. out of BC and I've sent them a message, but won't hear from them until Monday.
Just throwing it out there, if anyone else can recommend a shipping option for me.
when u were on u ship did you get quotes from shipping company's or did you get bids from shippers. u ship can be tricky to use when u first put in your info it gives u quotes from big shipping company's which is usually really high u then have to find the option where u can let shippers bid on your shipment and they r usually alot cheaper if your ad is on long enough you may luck out and find someone coming back with an empty trailer that will pick it up for you for a reasonable price
I had a motor shipped from Winnipeg to Mississauga through MANITOULIN TRANSPORT INC and it was under $150. The only thing was you had to bring it to one of their hubs and pick up at a hub which why the cost was so low. You can call them and they will give you an estimate.

For the life of me, I can't find a way on the USHIP website to request bids versus quotes. Maybe they don't do bids anymore ? Any suggestion ?

When you log into uship. under the drop down menu where it says my Shipments (click drop down menu, then click pending).
is your shipment under that section? If it is. Click on the title and it should show you the active bids and time remaining.
If that doesnt work. Go to your original email from uship when you created the quote/listing. You should have received an email from uship with the subject line Your New Listing: ( whatever you listed it as..). Go to that email and click the blue link. It will bring you to the listing That way as well..

Thanks Mike,
I can find my Pending listing fine. But it doesn't show active "bids", it shows active "quotes". Perhaps I'm just confusing the terminology ? The quotes I've received have been crazy. From 2000 to 5000+ for a 500 pound frame.
Nothing in here indicates a way to specifically ask for bids.
Hey Scott, Yes those quotes are the bids. If you click the listing it should give you a time remaining on the listing. Closer to the end. The more bidders/lower quotes you might get.
I went back into mine and yes there called active quotes instead of bids.

are you getting a email saying someone has submitted a new bid. whenever some gives you a new bid you should get a email telling you to log into your account to view it. also not sure what you put in for a pick up date but if your not in a hurry put in a later pick up date. some shippers may have trips planned later in the season and will pick up stuff on there way or back from another shipment. i found when i wanted something quick the quotes are high because your item may be the only thing they pick up because of short notice. it seems the more then can line up to fill there trailers the cheaper it gets. i needed a bumper from ottawa picked up and found a guy who was picking something up there in about a months time so he only charged me very little because it worked out to be on his route. here is the guys number 613-761-2849 i believe his name is drew, he goes coast to coast was a really good guy to deal with
Also, maybe spell out if you can help loading and unloading with say a forklift or front end loader or some kind of lift. Or does frame have wheels under it?

Incase the shipping industry hasn't re-sorted itself yet, it is not the same as shipping was pre-2020.
In early 2020, I had friend(?*) in Ontario, lets call him "guy-a", ship me a complete 12 bolt rear end - shipping was great, and super easy to deal with. IIRC it was a little over $100 for shipping - it was strapped to a cut down pallet, and placed in the back of a truck coming this way when ever room was left at the end of a truck.
About a year later I had located a spare Muncie three speed transmission for my car, again in Ontario; Lets call this gent "guy-b"; This time no matter whom I recommended that guy-b (owner of the transmission) speak to, the only quotes were retardedly sky high; Guy-b ended up dropping off the transmission at guy-a's shop, where guy-a paid guy-b my agreed price for the transmission, then took over... This time around guy-a found the same stuff out as what guy-b was telling me - no one wanted to ship, and the only quotes were retarded (iirc over $600 and up - for something smaller, and less weight than the 12 bolt). Guy-a ended up doing shipping through his shop (a Transmission shop as it happens) to a local shop - but it took months to get here.

I bought a used transmission from a "real" junkyard in NB a few years ago, they shipped it to me on a pallet through a major carrier, $35 + tax.
