69 SD Identification

I'm looking at what "might" be a '69 SD.  It's coded for rear window blower, bucket seats, console and Powerglide.  Is there anything about the SD package that would appear on the cowl tag?

To be safe, have you considered getting the documentation from GM Vintage Vehicle Services? That's the 100% foolproof way to know.

If it were my car, that's the first thing I'd be doing.  But it's not my car.  Right now I'm just trying to do my due diligence.  I've thought about it a bit more and realized this car can't be an SD because it's coded for a Powerglide and no 396 was offered with that transmission.

Also no buckets and console for the sd in 69 it was based on the Deluxe model bench seat only. Buckets and console would make it a Custom.

If the VIN does not begin with 734 it is not an SD. Engine option would show on the cowl tag as L35 or L34. There are some other option codes that are unique to the SD only but differ based on when the car was built.
The other replies are correct as well.

This is all great information. Thank you all. One last request. Can someone post a photo of the rear of a '69 SD? I'm interested in the pieces on the panel below the decklid inboard of the backup lights. I have the 64-69 Beaumont parts catalog 692R (March 1972) and it shows different pieces for an SD. On the right side piece is the "SD" actual diecast letters or tape? Thanks.

The SD is a cast piece that is fastened to the right piece. There are two different part number, one for white and one for black

Yes, piece #2 in the drawing.  My question is:  Are the SD letters die-cast and plated or are they tape?

Also:  Found this in my search for information.

From what I've learned so far, this appears to be a one of none car.  It seems to be well done, but it doesn't appear to be something that Oshawa ever built.  Or did they?

If there's even a slight chance of it being the real thing you really should get the GM documents. You never know, it could be something unusual.

they are cast, not tape or a decal.
