‘66 Strato Chief. •••First Post

Hello, Im new to the classic cat world. My 66 Pontiac Strat Chief sedan (283) needs a few parts and they are hard to find. Does anybody know what other models it would share parts with?? Im looking for some motor mounts and upper control arms. Thanks for having me on this forum!

Welcome Gregg.

Actually, all parts, other than trim specific to the Strato should be really easy to find. All the chassis and driveline parts are shared with the 65-66 Chevrolet Impala/Bel Air/Biscayne. Body parts, the 66 Parisienne, Laurentian.

Show us what you have.

Welcome here from another 66 Strato Chief owner! I'm just going to take mine for a ride, then be back to you later. I think I might be able to help you with motor mounts.

I think I might even have some front upper control arms somewhere. If that's what you need.

Are you talking about the engine side or the frame side for mounts? I assume maybe engine side?

I will need to degrease the area to get a better idea.  However, I was struggling to find the part number that fits the 283.  The frame mount looks solid so I would like to ideally replace the whole assembly on LH and RH side.

Wow, your car looks to be in great shape! (Except those motor mounts which certainly need to be replaced!)

Thanks.  She looks pretty good in pictures or if you squint just right.  :)

A few choices. Your local parts guy should have them. I'd go with poly, as most rubber mounts today are very suspect in quality as far as I'm concerned. I had a new rubber one fail within a year on my 67.

I think they are made in India. The quality may have improved, but I can't vouch for it. Most guys will echo this.

Make sure you buy interlocking.

the "grease" looks a lot like undercoating, might have to use a scraper.

The motor mount, just about any small block will fit, 265, 283, 302, 327, 350. Remove one and take it to the parts store. Canadian tire may have it too. I know........BUT they used to carry Blue Streak, Felpro, some of the quality parts manufactures were featured at CTC
