Out for a little run today in the 67

And came upon a newer black Camaro SS. He was in front of me at the light turning left, we both turned, he moved right I moved up beside him and we both punched.

I was in top gear when I tromped it...and he just couldn't catch me. I lifted at 115 mph. Him sooner. I think he was probably shocked.

How much power do these new Camaro's have? I was always of the thinking I'd never stand a chance against one, but the 496 just felt spot on today. Perfect air I guess.

I had all my windows down, and it definitely sounded V8. Hah! Maybe that was just me... But no, he was on my quarter and ever just slightly falling back, so I did hear him.

Actually, the fact I was in 3rd when I punched was impressive. The thing just builds Torque like mad and doesn't seem to care what gear it's in. But had I went to 2nd it would have given me more of a launch out. I have no kickdown, so it's done manually.

Now here is a thing, I've recently began using PetroCan 94 out of convenience over Shell Nitro. I know it contains E, but the car has actually felt noticeably stronger and smoother as of late. Maybe the fuel? I know there is some power left on the table that I could tune in, and the mufflers on the car are restrictive. Now I feel inspired to find a little more. My rev limiter is set at a conservative 55, and I think I could go up to 58 to start.

The supercharged 6.2 was only available in the ZL1 model. You definitely can tell the ZL1 from the noticeable lopey rumble.wink

No, it couldn't have been a ZL1. I would have been thumped for sure.

Is there anyway to tell, say from the tailpipe exits?

If you didn't engage the kick down I have to assume you were already doing over 70 mph.

At that point wouldn't your rear end gears be the factor here. My big block LeMans pulls like a freight train at speeds like that, 2.73 rear end.

From the factory, the LT Camaros have single stainless extensions on each side. The SS and ZL1 have dual stainless extensions on each side.

I have no provision for the kickdown Ray, Id say I was at around 70 Kilometers per hour when we left. Around 5200 when I let off. 3.55 gear.

The car had the quad tips.

Get your dash cam running so we can see it. You have to "troll" that road this week, best 2 out of 3.

You can always manually downshift.  Down to 1st might have been a bit too much, but definitely could have gone down to 2nd.

Ah, enough...it's obviously no racer. A sleeper somewhat sure, it'll still surprise you when you don't expect it. And it's aging like a fine wine. Better with age!

I often wonder, is there even another still on the road like this one?

Where's  the Like button?  North American carmakers were in their element when they built full frame land yachts.

Anyone here ever get nailed for Stunt Driving? The speed limits in Toronto are so low that you'd swear you are on time/space-altering drugs. You see a traffic light ahead, but it will cycle twice before you reach it because the speed limit is so unnaturally low. With policies like that, when a section of road actually requires low speed, they've already cried "Wolf!"

Got pulled over once in my 64 for possibly fooling around, Was ;having the body shop after having a small dent fixed, of course they were standing outside waiting to see
if I would perform. Dam cop was around the corner and I could not see him. Was gonna get me for stunting, speeding but he did not have me on radar. Talked nice to him and after
a bit he let me go. Was gonna give me 7 day impound, with a tow. Guess he thought, dam old guy should know better, LMAO.

Took my grandson to 3 dental appointments in Toronto a while ago and found 30 kph streets with speed bumps.

Changed my route the next time still more speed bumps.

AND...Most of the main streets, Bloor, Danforth, Runnymede, Woodbine etc, are down to one lane in each direction!!! Parking on both sides of the road and then a bike lane 6-8' wide. Hardly enough room for a tractor trailer to pass another truck on the "main" streets..

If the urbanists have their way, there will be no cars on downtown city streets.  Only bicycles and scooters (who for the most part have no regard for pedestrians).

This is happening all across the country.  Cycling activists skewing the facts to convince cities to force people out of their cars by making things as inconvenient as possible for people who choose to use a car to get around.  Their idea is that somehow everybody in cars will suddenly choose to ride a bike through the rain, sleet and snow to get around, but in actual fact bike lanes are only lightly used by the more extreme cyclists.

I won't go any further, as I don't want to get political, but there's a large gap between what a few cyclists want and what the rest of the population wants, but from what you describe, we know who is winning...

Be careful out there, Mark.  We all know that things can go grievously wrong really quickly on public roads.  Just takes one unsuspecting person to do the wrong thing at the wrong time.  I for one would hate to see that beautiful Grande get messed up, not to mention all the stuff that could happen to your physical and financial self...
