There's an "Ask PEI" group on Facebook. I'll post a question there to see if there are spring shops here. To be honest I'd rather just get the springs and install them myself. I don't really want to leave the truck at a shop for who knows how long to have them do it.

I'm not sure where he gets them. He didn't seem too eager to help me out. I do have some good news however. I posted on "Ask PEI" if anyone knew of a spring shop on PEI and get this: I get a message from a fellow who runs a shop one road over from my place ("AA Automotive") who does leaf spring repairs. I've seen the place and thought is was just some guys cool private workshop since there aren't any signs. I'm going to pop over tomorrow and he'll take a look and determine if I can get away with just replacing the leaf or a complete do over.
The $1200 each quote was striclty parts pricing. If I bought the springs I was going to install them myself. I'll report later what the parts and labour quote is from the shop near my house.
So I met "Buck" the mechanic. Interesting fellow. He says we can get away with just replacing the one leaf. $250-300 all in and 2.5-3 weeks before he can get to it. Looks like I'll go that route.
Buck the mechanic does the work. His quote was parts/labour and taxes. I'd do them myself but it wouldn't be until spring (which means failing inspection) as my barn is full of winter storage. I also did a number on my shoulder about a month ago (not sure exactly what I was doing to cause the injury) and really need to stop stressing it or it will never heal.
So, $1200x2 =$2400, + your labour (any car guy close to retired should get $50/hour) say 6 hours stopping hourly to survey the work and have a beer = $300 +$100 for doing it yourself +tax....not straining your back and being so sore for a week.....Lets round it off at $3000
As I see it you are up at Least $2700... Flip him a tip or bottle for doing it "so quickly" and that should move you closer to the front of the line the next time you need him....
Way ahead of you Cliff. One log already dragged out and has been blocked and split. We're in the midst of blocking and splitting the big maple that went down. This will all be firewood for next year (currently 45% moisture). Now I'm on the hunt for dead trees that went down that I could possibly use this year. I'd like to burn a little more wood this year than previous years.
My buddy gave me a snatch block, great for pulling things out of the woods. Also use it for pulling trees leaning the wrong way when chain sawing them down. Its a big rugged one with a side loader for the rope.

I spoke to Eastern Spring Works. They do stock complete sets of springs for my truck. $370 each plus shipping and taxes. I'm going to go with having the one leaf replaced but will keep them in mind in case I need to replace all of them in the future.
From my experience with rear springs on my 85 the main was obviously cracked and looked similar to your truck, right above the differential.
However when I jacked the truck to support the weight of the truck and left the differential on the shop floor, I cut the U bolts with my mini grinder, the spring set including one or two helpers broke apart, I had to replace the complete set.
The second issue I ran into was when I completed the change out on the right side springs of the truck , and put the weight back to the shop floor , the truck sat high on the right side by quite a bit , I can't remember exactly the measurement, but it was quite obvious to the naked eye. Then I when through the task of having the other side removed and had those springs re arched. Guess what happen then ? you got it, the main cracked on that set, so in the end I replaced both sets.
Sorry if this is not encouraging, just sharing my past experience . Good Luck with your project.
Dale
