Those things came standard with A/C at a time when most people passed on it when given a choice. Back in '71 when you bought an AMC they threw in a TV, either black & white or colour, depending on the prestige of the car you select.
Back in 1973 before Ancaster was served under Hamilton-Wentworth region, Ancaster (Wentworth Co.) bought a pair of 1973 AMC Ambassador police cars. They were serious cars with fat stabilizer bars, dog dish caps & A/C, and 401 V8 power. No doubt they took what they offered on the LAPD Matador & applied it to the Ambassador.
