LED Christmas light issue.

We've had a few strings of these bendable push in ground branchy type outdoor lights for a few years now. LED. Never an issue.

Yesterday when we hooked up one string, it entirely came on really dim compared to being super bright. If I install another string into the female end "B", they go completely out, and the following string does not light. As soon as you pull the cord out, they re-light.

Is the issue in the female end "B"? No tweaking them anywhere makes any difference or has them flickering. Even on a bench, plugged in alone, they are dim. Any other device plugged into them turns them right off.

Any ideas? We'd simply buy a new set, but we can't find them these days.

My impression is that there is high resistance at plug A causing low amperage to the string. Adding the next string adds more load and because of the low amperage pulls the voltage down to the point that none of the leds will illuminate. I would try replacing plug A to see if it resolves the problem. There is probably a corrosion issue between A and the first led. I say plug A because you state that the entire string is dim.

Thanks Paul. This is what I need to hear...I'm probably fixated on the wrong end! And yes! Absolutely! If the LED's power falls below a certain threshold...they won't light.

As a side note, I did clean up the male prongs as they were black, to no avail, so it's between the male and the first led.
