Absolute terrible situation. Never saw anything like this before, the raw emotion, grief and shock. Last report I heard by CNN was that he was transported to hospital with a pulse but could not breath on his own.

I was at a Calgary Stampeders game back in 1975 when a Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive player Tom Pate suffered an aneurysm on the field. The ambulance came onto the field and all the players just looked shocked. The game continued.

He never regained consciousness and died 3 days later.

According to the NY Times:

Damar Hamlin of Buffalo Bills in Critical Condition After Collapsing During N.F.L. Game

Hamlin, a 24-year-old safety, went into cardiac arrest after being hit, but his heartbeat was restored by medical personnel, the Bills said. The game against the Cincinnati Bengals was postponed.

He got up and collapsed backward in a few seconds, like a ton of bricks. His heart must have been stopped when he stood up he went down so fast. They had to start his heart twice, likely by cpr, a defibrillator wont restart a heart that has no activity. I read it took 9 minutes to get his heart started the first time and he would have had some talented people working on him. What the people on the field saw scared the hell out of them, never saw so many players crying in any sport before.
