My New Radio Show

Not sure if anybody here really wants to hear me on the radio or, even worse, put up with my taste in music but I just started a volunteer gig at the local Community radio station. Its normally French programming but apparently they need some multicultural stuff so they asked me if I would host in English and basically play whatever I want for two hours a week.  Given that I have a music collection ranging from Edison cylinders, through 78's, 45's, LPs, eight tracks, Cassettes, CDs and DVDs I shouldn't run out of stuff to play really soon. My plan is to play stuff from a lot of different genres and concentrate on stuff you haven't heard a thousand times already (or at least not recently).

I have done one show so far last week and I was a bit nervous but this week should be slick and smooth just like me (heh heh).

You can get it Mondays at 600 pm Alberta time on the web at Boreal FM  and press the on-air feed button. IF YOU DARE!

You may be surprised !

When I was 22, I would never admit I liked my father's music.

She likes 50s and up and can name most older songs on the radio before I can.

Here's hoping!  I can use more fans. I think I may have two or three. I'm not even sure of my wife!

The oldest this week will be from 1951 and the newest from about 2014.

Thanks guys, a few glitches but if I can learn to work the mouse and the mixing board at the same time it'll get better.  i hope you liked the song about the White Rose service station. Next week will have a few songs about car engines or the joy of bench seats. Haven't decided yet.

You are certainly cut out for the job Ken, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved hearing the Smothers Brothers along with some Winnipeg talent, Chad Allan and the Expressions.

The story is that Chad Allan had a bad cold during the session. Actually made him sound funkier. Glad you listened to the second hour. The first had a few "technical" problems.

Hey guys tune in tonight if you can for the old curmudgeon's radio  show. Tonight I feature a three song technical feature on how to choose the car seat that gives you the best "bang for your buck' so to speak.   Other good tunes and probably some relatively amusing technical glitches as well!

Hoping Ken takes his own advice, right now he's playing a song with the lyrics "don't waste your time in a foreign car".... That would include Citroen, Ken!

Love what's playing now, the Canada theme! The first 2 are a couple of my favourite songs!

Thanks Carl I was finally starting to relax a bit tonight so I had more fun than usual. Glad you liked the road songs!

i also slightly criticized Joni Mitchell for referring to a 57 Biscayne in the song of hers I played: Raised On Robbery. That always bugged me.

I heard that and had a good laugh! I was thinking "I bet 99% of the people listening couldn't care less what year the first Biscayne was made"!

I was disappointed you didn't also do the Arrogant Worms "Rocks and Trees" song!
