My 66 beaumont project car came with a new aftermarket brake booster. There are 2 brackets that mount to the firewall which accept the 4 bolts on the back of the booster. Everything seems to lineup well EXCEPT for the round black cylinder hat comes out the back of the booster. This black cylinder is fixed to the back of the booster and the brake adjustment rod comes through this cylinder and attaches with a yoke to my brake pedal. Whew....that was long winded. My issue is the round black cylinder on the back of the booster that encompasses the rod that goes to the brake pedal will not slip into the hole in the firewall due to the angle of the mounting brackets. I need some direction here please. Is this the wrong aftermarket brake booster. I hop my photo is clear enough to show the round black cylinder on the back if the booster not fitting into the hole in the firewall. Hhhhheeeeeelp.
Ps the photo is spun off kilter. Sorry.

The firewall of your 66 should be the same as my 70, as such you shouldn't need the bracket. The booster bolts directly to the firewall.
A few years ago I was contacted by a guy with a 70 Laurentian or Strato-Chief, he was trying to use a mounting bracket too. Once he bolted the booster directly to the firewall he was off to the races.
Not sure about that. There are 2 sets of bolts that go through the firewall into the engine bay of the 66. The bolts are fixed, maybe welded to the inside of the firewall. As well there are 4 bolts on the back of the brake booster that fit through the brackets provided with the booster. There aren't any holes in the firewall to accommodate the 4 bolts that are on the back of the brake booster.
Sorry, when I posted above I presumed you were working on a full size car. When I saw your ID I realized you were working on a Beaumont. I tried to delete my post but I'm not authorized.
I have installed a couple of booster kits and the brackets never seem to be right. Have had to hog out holes to get lined up. Or you have the wrong brackets all together. Kit come with a part# ?.
Brand new booster and master but no part numbers on either item. Brackets seem ok but the brake pedal rod comes through the fire wall on a downward trajectory. The brake pedal rod comes out the back of the booster of course but the brake pedal rod also comes out of a small round piece similar in shape to a spool of thread. This round piece does not seat flat on the firewall but instead is on an angle leaving a gap between that spool shaped piece and the firewall. That is a loooong and confusing explanation. Sorry it was a long day and I am pooped.
parts store should be able to get you one they repop them lots on ebay or you can get one from a junk yard they were used for alot of years in gm cars and trucks
if you get one from a junk yard double check the length i have found a couple of different ones when going to the junkyard take a measurement from back of your booster to firewall
