Chrome windshield clips

Hello !. Before I get windshield installed I am curious to the placement off the chrome fasteners. Does anyone have a diagram or picture of there positions. Also do you have to remove s wiper cowll to install these clips. I have heard that they need to be on before windshield can go in. How many clips go on around the windshield? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

There were different styles used on different models/years and there are also different replacement clip styles so best to be well prepared.
Perhaps a picture or two would help us.

Not sure if they made a 62 Cdn Pontiac assembly manual, but what you are looking for may be in there. The 62 impala 2 door had the same glass, theoldcarmanualproject site may have that manual on line but it would be worth having for your car imho, I have the 63 Chevy manual for my car and it is very helpful.

The cowl panel does need to be removed to access the clips. New clips are available from classic industries. Search for 1964 impala windshield trim clips.

The top and side clips go on before windshield. And the lower go on after windshield is install.36CA7E01-341B-4913-95DB-3C5CD6738C80.jpeg

Darrelist did you get all the answers you were looking for? I am in a slow rebuild of a 62 Parisienne and may be able to pass along a few things I've learned about them. I took a lot of photos when I took my car apart but for the life of me I can't find one for the windshield. None of my clips broke and I put them in a sealed baggie. Do you still need to know how many there were? To the best of my knowledge there isn't a build manual for 61 or 62. For unknown reasons these two years have very little available for them, but you can buy the 1961 shop manual and the supplement for 1962. Does your have the original power train?

I just noticed and fixed my typo to correct the year of the assembly manual to 1962.
