Starting my next project

A few of you guys will have seen I bought Ken's yellow 66 Grande Parisienne. I knew going into the deal that he had left some stuff unfinished when he did a bunch of work on the car a dozen or so years ago to get it on the road. Also, when he showed up here with the car for us to make the deal the water pump was leaking, so I knew I had to do that as soon as I could.

Today I started on the pump. Also, I remembered him saying that he'd never installed some of the A/C components, i.e. condenser, some hoses and the drier. It's a lot easier doing the water pump with the rad, clutch fan and shroud out and I have to pull them to install the condenser anyway, so away we go!

And of course, once I had all that out, then I didn't like the non-original looking fuel pump and the pipe from the pump to the carb so on went a new pump and I bent up a new line.

Currently I'm trying to find a local place that will sell me bulk A/C hose in 13/32" and 1/2" because I think it's a good idea to replace what is likely 57 year old rubber A/C lines.

Just a couple of progress shots. I'm on hold now until I find the A/C hose.

It's not an original 66 shroud as far as I can tell. It's too deep. The clutch fan sits close to 2" inside it.

Actually, I should rephrase that. I think it's a small block shroud.

Well, I'm looking at the rad, correct for 66 offset filler, 4 core for AC. Check the clutch fan for #s, it may have been changed...

The side holes are different shapes, between the BB and SB. I'll look for the pics and send them to you..

I believe the rad is original.

Kevin, I've seen them before but not very often. I wonder if it might be only 66, yes. Obviously if you haven't seen them before your Caprice doesn't have one?
