Seriously? Is that what car trailers cost now? Same brand, same identical trailer built by the same company.

If you both use it infrequently sell him a 50% interest and share it?

It's worse for those of us who aren't close to the border. I checked trailer dealers here in PEI and they have nothing. The closest is in Moncton and it's a 20 footer.

Carl, im surprised its not more. Boat trailers have gone up at least 75% in the last 8 years. some of teh tandem boat trailers(which would be comparable to a car trailer, only with even less metal) are going over 6000 now!

I've thought about that but then he can lend it to whoever he likes and lending a car trailer to people you don't know or barely know is something that shouldn't be done. With me the sole owner I control who uses it. And he knows he can borrow it any time he likes, even if he's hauling for a friend. If he does that, at least I know he's present and will take care of it. Not that my trailer is mint, it looks awful because the paint is terrible. However, wheels, tires, bearings, brakes, suspension, wiring etc I have maintained very faithfully.

Well, it is 15 years ago. The price of cars has gone up that much too, let me correct that. EVERYTHING has gone up that much. The quality has gone down and the price is climbing..... I was just talking to my buddy this week about this. He used to rent a trailer here from Avis for $600 to Florida, return $200. He owns a house there, so he figured 3-4 more years and he would have the trailer paid for. He said he has been looking for 3 weeks in central Ontario, prices from $2500 (junk) to $6000 ( a little better junk). Pricing is all over the map, same as parts prices.

You have to do your homework for sure, be prepared to look at some junk before you find a good one..

Fortunately for me a national trailer manufacturer just south of me.

Notice in January that he had new trailers piled up everywhere on the property and across the road too.

I had been looking at some "almost new" for between $4,500 and $5,000.

Canada trailers sold me a new, 18' for $5500 plus tax.

The 20' trailers are in demand and were a lot more.

Going to be a handful putting the 69 on that trailer.... Wheels are back too far. You'll be way over your "tongue weight" just looking at the nose of the 69 and where the wheels are.

I paid about $1500 in 1989 and after looking at trailer prices I decided to strip my trailer down and rebuild it. I couldnt justify the cost of replacing the trailer for something that I only use a couple of times a year.

These trailers are a bit more stable than you may think.

Once the motor is in, there will be no trailering the 69 wink

I do realize the Olds is backwards but it towed fine for 120 kms on the 401.

I bought a brand new trailer in 04 and it was 1800USD, I sold it years ago to go to an enclosed 24. I sold it and went back to an open and just bought a new one and it was 4500.00, inflation I guess.

i bought a brand new trailer in 92 for $1700 cdn and after 25 years it was rusting and needed repair. I sold it for $1850 and had the same people build me a new one the same only this one has brakes on both axles and both fenders are removeable. I paid $2500 for bare metal and had it painted for another $1000

I bought a 16 foot Southland car trailer in 2019 for $3800. I've had plenty of big cars on it without issue, including a 1966 Chrysler 300.

Same trailer is just shy of $7000 now.
