1964 Acadian Canso factory v8 ??

I recently bought what I was told is a 1964 Acadian Canso factory small block car. I bought it as a rolling chassis and I was wondering did they make a factory small block v8 in 1964? I don't think the guy would lie but I am not sure either. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes they did.  First year for a 195hp 283 in the Acadian canso/invader line.

What is the model number?  that will confirm it for sure.

Actually the model # may not help because in 1964, the V8 Chevy II / Acadian was an option based on a six cylinder model. The humble 283 2 barrel was RPO L32.

Ah, thanks Cam.  that explains why i couldnt find a model number reference for the V8 cars.   Looks like it going to have to be up to the VVS to know for sure.

or if you can find a Line tag still under the rear seat or inside the front seat, or under the dash above the instrument cluster.  Certainly worth a look

Redd, welcome here.

I have what I think will be a good indicator for an original V8 car. (And by the way, I've never seen an original 64 Acadian V8 car)

Where does your fuel line to the engine enter the engine compartment? Does it run parallel to the frame rail in the engine compartment, past the motor mount? Or does it run along the outside of the frame rail, below the shock absorber and suspension, then turn and go through a hole in the inner fender under the battery tray?

I appreciate everyone's help. How can I decode the numbers on the fire wall? Many thanks

Can you post a picture of the firewall (cowl) tag here? Or list everything written on it?

There is a member in Niagara Falls who could probably put eyes on your car for verification.

Would the 64 V8 have 5 bolt wheels? The V8 63 Falcon did.

From what I've seen on cars and seen in reference material, all V8 first generation X body cars did have 5 bolt wheels, yes.

Boy that car would have been a zippy little thing even with the 2 barrel 283. Good choice whoever checked that box!
