Intake and carb ID

Is there anyway that I can tell what carb. was on my 283 from the factory?
also, the intake. should there a specific number on the intake manifold?
1965 Acadian Canso sd  factory v8

There is currently a 4 barrel on it and I am considering going back to a 2.
open to suggestions.

thanks all

MH

I can take a look at my Chevrolet by the Numbers book.

283 or 327?  Auto or Manual trans?  Air conditioning or no?
