I have the original antenna body from my 65 Acadian. Cowl mount. The antenna was broken off. I see where you can buy just the mast but cant figure for the life of me how to get the remains of the broken one out ando attach a new mast only. Maybe thats not even possible on the old antenna body.
I don't remember it causing me too much grief when I replaced my snapped-off mast with the threaded section still in the base. I just grabbed a hand tool and twisted it out.
I replaced it with an NOS GM mast, which later an electrician broke and so was forced again to replace it, this time with a repro.
Hey Canso, are you dealing with a co-ax issue, or is it the mast base itself?

I think the coax is good. I havent really dug any deeper than the mast. I just dont know if on those original antennas if the mast screws in or not. Do you remember where you bought the mast from? Ive seen a bunch and would like something that looks semi original.

So GMfan, I attached a better picture if my antenna body that shows the mast down inside. That that part remaining be screwed out it maybe thread the new mast into that somehow? Or just get a new body as well?

I am providing an attachment from my '67 Chevelle Assembly manual that shares the same antenna design, perhaps a minor detail difference in the bezel for your application. The co-ax is supposed to just plug into the bottom of the antenna body until the boot is seated. DO NOT TWIST! It likely will break some of the wire strands or damage the insulation sheath in the co-ax if you do.
