Anyone have suffix code HF on 1968 327 Beaumont ? or a confirmed production #s from GM CANADA

Hello can anyone help I have found nothing for how many L30 cars were produced with 327/275 HP engines for a 1968 Beaumont. These are the first large journal SBC produced cast # 3914678 seem to be all from flint plant,If your report from GM Services Canada report says model # 73637 and says 3477 that just means #S Produced in CANADA for 2DRHT that could be in a DELUXE or CUSTOM with any engine combination. We have confirmed L73  327/250 HP #s at 47.  We need to know how many L30 cars only had this option. I have also Confirmed suffix codes of A0,A1,A2.  An currently looking for suffix code HF location is on front engine pad. if you don't have Gm document from GM Canada services report this is for 68 Beaumont 327 cars only check photo out V is for flint plant  0817 August 17th  HF =275 HP thanks !

It looks like all we have in the production numbers here on CP is 47 Beaumont convertibles with L73 option 327 in 1968.

Hello thanks for the response I had seen that 47# for the converts but what about all the 2drht customs and deluxe and post cars models they must had the option of ordering a 327 got to be a lot more ? Someone must have that info that has a Custom with GM Canada documents.

No info, but I did have one. It was a Custom with 327, 4 speed Saginaw. Basic model, no PS or PB. It was a 4bbl, so I imagine a 275hp.

So I learned something new in this thread. I always said we never got the 250 horse 327 in Canada (thinking about our full size Pontiacs and Chevs) but never thought the Beaumonts had it. Can anyone confirm, did Beaumont and/or Chevelle actually get that low compression 4 barrel 327 in Canada in 1968? I know the US had it in their full size Chevy, I've seen it in the wrecking yards there.

Actually, I just found this online, it's the 68 Beaumont brochure-

They did produce L73 cars in Canada. I specifically remember a stunningly original '68 Impala Custom coupe in the late 80's in Mississauga. Oshawa-built, original Canada-only Burnished Saddle paint, 250-horse 327 (L73), Hydramatic, p/s & power drums, rolling on 1971 vintage dual white stripe bias ply tires. So for the full-size Chevrolets, yes.
Canadian full-size Pontiacs already came base with a 327 2-barrel regular fuel V8 (a step up over Chevy's 307) and so no to the L73, the next step up was the 4-barrel premium fuel 327 for them.

Beaumonts and Canadian-produced Chevelles offered the same engine lineup to each other. 230, 250, 307, 327 (L73), 327 (L30), then 396s for the SD396 / SS396 in 325 & 350-horsepower versions.

Likely most people just saved their money and went for the base 307. Those were super common. When high octane gas was readily & cheaply available when these cars were new, people usually stepped up all the way to the high compression 327 (L30) if they wanted a performance increase, and why not? More efficiency in the 10:1 compression engine. All that changed later on when tetra-ethyl lead was removed from gas and you couldn't feed them properly. The lower compression L73 starts to look attractive to used car buyers, but where are the L73s? How many remained without being modded into a grenade and replaced? Or salvaged from a rusty or wrecked Beaumont, rebuilt into a 10½:1 show motor & placed into a fender-less Model A roadster hot rod?

Probably a better title for the thread would have been "Beaumont 327 engine Production Numbers" since I was thinking it was more about engine stamps. FWIW the stamps for an L73 Beaumont or Chevelle should be EH (10.4" clutch), EI (Powerglide), EJ (11" clutch). Not common I am betting.

Yes I look at what you wrote all pretty much comin knowledge talked about everything you wanted about but if you really want to be helpful answer the question asked in this tread based on 1968 BEAUMONTS 327 production #s. Or you could start your own in a other tread, but thanks for the helpful input.

I have an 1968 L30 M20 Beaumont post. George at VVS said data is a bit hard to sort out. He was able to say that 79 Beaumont, Deluxe and convertibles Beaumonts got the M20 option in 68. He felt only a few base model Beaumonts would have had the M20 option and couldnt determine how many were L30.

Thanks Ken the more info the better on the L30 we get one day we can add them all up for BEAUMONTS . That must be a sweet combo with the M20 what is the gears ratio from factory on your car 3.31 ?  I am thinking a lot more Customs would have the L30  and L73 engines thanks again on your input let me know on anything else you come up with thanks.

Car came with 3.07 open diff still 3.07 today. The M20 option is the Saginaw transmission. Apparently the Muncie trans was put in anything rated over 300 HP - I have not been able to confirm but appears to be so. Other interesting thing George told me the car was ordered with no radio (not radio delete). The car had a factory radio and rear fender antenna. He said some dealers would install the factory radio cheaper than ordering from factory and they offered aftermarket antenna choices like rear antenna.

Hello thanks for your response, I was wondering on your car GM documents for your Deluxe how many does it say for same model produced in CANADA  for your model # should read 73400 ? that number covers all the DELUXE models yours should have have 2 #s in place of the last numbers of 00 thanks Theo

Tried responding but it went into the ether somewhere. I will give it another go.
Mine is model 73227 - Beaumont - V8 2dr thin pillar coupe not a Deluxe. Docs indicate 401 same model number produced.
