Neat car.  It would be nice back in its original Verdoro Green.

Testing my early Firebird memory.

Would this one have the Tempest coil spring rear diff with leaf spring mounts??

Would this one have the Dearborn (Ford) 3 speed manual trans??

I once bought a 1967 Firebird OHC 4bbl Sprint from a secure bank Repo Yard.

Wasn't allowed to touch, only walk around with a yard man opening the hood/doors.

I needed a Muncie for another project so bought it with intentions of swapping it out.

They promised it was a Muncie due to the Sprint package but naturally it was a Saginaw.

Win some, loose some !!

Happy Crown Victoria Day!!

Thanks
Randy

pre-1970 Pontiacs with the 'heavy duty' three speed did get a dearborne "toploader" three speed;
unless the car came with, or was opted with the heavy duty three speed, it would have been the saginaw.

If the sprint package still had the saginaw transmission, then that means that anything short of 400/4bbl (or possibly the 1969 350HO) also came with the saginaw.

I had a 1968/69 LeMans 350, 2bbl with the Dearborn 3 speed.

That was my first experience with one.

It came with a Hurst floor shifter.

I think all Dearborns did.

Thanks
Randy

I believe that it was PMD's practice (from at lest the mid-1960's forward) to always team up a Hurst shifter with a HD manual transmission.

OHC sixes still used the Saginaw even with the Hurst shifter. The ratios & rotational mass was appropriate for the torque output of that engine.

Now if it was a 326 H.O. it would have come with a HD Dearborn trans if it had a floor shift with a V8. Just like unruhjonny said.
