Is she going to use an antenna to watch free "Over the Air" channels?

Cliff, check places like Best Buy, this one is sold out but there are usually other similar ones for sale

at these electronic places.

Refurbished (Excellent) - Hisense 40" 1080p HD LCD Vidaa Smart TV    $154.97

https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/refurbished-excellent-hisense-40-1080p-hd-lcd-vidaa-smart-tv-40h55g-2021/17233730

Also check Goodwill or Sally Ann, I've  seen TY's at those places at around $50.

They usually test them, but make sure it does work and it has a remote.

I have a Sony TV, the older CRT type, sitting unused. It worked fine when stored away. If it checks out, you are welcome to it for free.

I'd expect if she is using cable tv, she'd need an HDMI input to the TV.  Unlikely your old Sony CRT TV has an HDMI Input.

I recently visited my elderly Dad who is in a nursing home.

His old TV was very crappy so I decided to buy him a new one.

The home he is in has a rule that states no TV's over 32"

So I bought him a new one from Walmart for $154.00!!

Not sure if other places have similar rules or not.

The price was a surprise for sure.

Thanks
Randy

PS: All the best to you and your wife.

For the old style Rogers PVR's the remotes are interchangable.   However, with the new Rogers Ignite Set Top Boxes (about the size of a pack of cigarettes), the remotes are paired via Bluetooth to the Set Top Box.
