Bought a few more items on Vevor

Some of these aren't auto related however I figured I'd share what we've been buying on Vevor

We have a ton of apple trees on our property and I've always wanted a cider press. I purchased one from Vevor and it should arrive soon. I'll report an update how well it works.

VEVOR Fruit Wine Press, 4.4 Gallon/16.7L, Solid Wood Basket with 8 Blocks, Manual Juice Maker, Cider Apple Grape Tincture Vegetables Honey Olive Oil Making Press with Pole Handle Bar for Kitchen, Home

We also bought a 12L (3 gallon) distiller. My wife makes a lot of homemade remedies and skin care products and wants to create some oils from herbs. I have a ton of blackberries on our property and we may try makeing a blackberry wine. It should arrive early next week. These are also great if you ever need to distill water to purify it.

We're looing forward to trying this one out! smile

Our first experience with Vevor was in 2022. My son bought a manual honey spinner for removing the honey from the frames in our hives. It was nice having one that didn't require any electricity as we extracted the honey just after Hurricane Fiona hit and we were 12 days without power.

In the fall of 2022 I bought a Vevor diesel heater. These were originally designed for use in campers or the sleepers of trucks but as it turns out they work well indoors as well. They do require an outlet for exhaust. I used one of those chrome boat exhaust fittings that I mounted in the wall of my workshop to feed the exhaust pipe through. These units come self contained with the controller and fuel tank. I find mine to be quite fuel efficient and it really pumps out the heat. I've used it several times without any issues. Vevor has several models, including some with Bluetooth which allows you to operate the unit from your phone. Mine isn't that fancy however it does have a wireless remote with very good range. They run on 12V so you'll need a battery or a power supply.

If you register on Vevor you get weekly emails with coupon codes. Once you've purchased items you get points that you can also accumulate and redeem for discounts as well. I saved about $14 on the cider press using accumulated points and a coupon code.

Cool! Dad had a press like that from his wine-making days. Knowing him, his father probably made it himself by hand.

That home brew distiller reminds me of the contraption they used to show in the old Welch's Grape Jelly commercials. Instead of the armoured hose, they made a show of it via a loopy clear hose, to show all the purple grape steaming up and suggestively funnelled right back into the mix, as if to say they retained all the grapy-ness (they probably just used a pressure cooker for production).

Honey harvesting is interesting. The honey takes on a strong character of whatever plants the bees are getting pollen from. I remember orange blossom honey in Florida, or buckwheat honey, or lavender honey... It's all good. An old schoolmate, Paul Montoux, became a beekeeper and started Monte's Beesness, a premier honey operation. Unfortunately Paul left this earth way too soon some 9 year's ago, but his widow still operates it full-tilt.
