65-70 Pontiac or Chevrolet B body oil pan wanted (big block)

Looking for an oil pan for a 65-70 B body big block oil pan. Stock or aftermarket is fine as long as it looks like an original, I don't want a race style oil pan. I'm located in Manitoba.

Thanks!

Not cheap, but maybe an option?

Thanks, yes I had found that one. Rock Auto also carries it. If I can't find anything else I'll have to do that.

Might be worth some further checking with the manufacturer. Under the specs it says "one piece rear seal"?????

Reading  further..."no dipstick tube'

I believe that to be a misprint. I've read a few threads where guys installed this pan on a 396 or 427 B body, 65-70 and it fit perfectly.

As stated in the Chevytalk thread, the only stock looking pan that will fit our 65-70 B body big blocks other than the GM OEM pan is the 501169 Pioneer. If you look at all those other ones listed in the interchange, they are wrong, they are a 1 step pan and the original is a 2 step pan.

Once again the internet is full of bad information, sadly. I'm not sure where that interchange is wrong but if anyone relies on it they will be upset at the money they wasted if they didn't buy the Pioneer 501169.

I only checked that Spectre pan because I thought it would possibly have been made in Canada and might have been cheaper to buy. It was too late last night to check them all. The price has gone up close to 50% since last year when I was looking  at them. But like you said  there is lots of bad info on the internet. Summit I find is usually 99% right on with there description and specifications. So I was surprised when I saw they said it did not have a dipstick hole.  The list of alternates I think I found on the Spectre site.

So I was just putting it out there for reference, as ALWAYS, it is up to the individual to check internet info 6 ways from Tuesday

It's weird they say it has no dipstick provision because all the 501169 images online show it clearly has the short tube spot welded on the side.

From what I understand that is correct. It seems the only pan that fits is the 65-70 B body. Some guys say the truck pan fits but by eye it doesn't look like it will clear the steering.

Have you ever seen a Big Block Chevy oil pan without a dipstick provision?  I haven't.

Exactly, that's why it seems so odd. I'm sure it's a misprint.

But does a one piece rear seal take the same pan?  That's the info that jumped out at me at first time I read it. Summit is my place to go to check for  "info" when I'm looking at parts, very unusual for them to be wrong I find.

Check out Parts Avatar - I ordered a big block pan for 67 396 and it looks perfect but haven't installed it yet.

That one doesn't fit the steering linkage on the B body though Bernie. The front of the sump is too far forward and the steering centre link hits the pan.

This illustration shows the correct design for B body (orange pan with the angle back on the front of the sump) vs the pan that fits other applications (black pan)
