Stolen cars legitemately registered now numbered at 200

I feel bad for these folks who followed all the rules and still had their classics taken away without any compensation.

I guess 2 "wrongs" make a "right".

"Why go buy a seller's package and go through all the bullshit, and then three years later, your car gets taken? That makes no sense," he says, his voice thick with emotion. - Wayne Evoy

Wow, what a sh*tshow.  I really feel for those folks who did everything right only to have their cars taken away with no hope of compensation.  It seems like the 21st century will be known as the scammer period, as things seem to be trending in a downward direction in that regard.

With 200 victims, I hope there will be a class action lawsuit in the works.  After all, they followed the rules, and the Ontario government assured them that everything was okay through the issuing of ownership documents, and the collection of whatever fees and taxes were required, thus making themselves an agent of the thieves by facilitating the sale of stolen property.  Each and every one of these people should receive full compensation from the government for all funds lost.

One might also question whether the dealer was negligent in not keeping track of the whereabouts of his own vehicles, and thus allowing them to enter the market without ever being reported as having been stolen, which probably would have prevented at least some of this mess.

Outrageous, really, and people shouldnt accept this as a reasonable outcome.

What gets me is the owner of the dealership actually signed over the ownership for one of the victims, yet the car still gets seized.

Did the thieves forge signatures on documents presented to DMV? I would definitely agree on the paperwork signed by the dealer personally. And if the crooks doing this signed paperwork transferring cars, they could be deemed to be agents of the dealership.

Lots of angles for a lawsuit and 200 cars at say $30,000 per car is $6,000,000.
