That's a Glacier Blue Impala convertible, non-SS, with a 427 plus the bucket / console option.

"Description

1969 Chevrolet Impala. 427 c.i. Engine. Automatic transmission. Good condition. Like new tires. Convertible. Asking $28,000.
For more information call Brian : 519-541-0776 or 519-330-1287."

A pretty brief description. I guess we have to call 'Brian' to learn anything else at all. Either an LS1 or L36 but still a premium fuel 427.

It's a beautiful looking car. I could live with it.

It looks like the smaller LS1 snout on the air cleaner snorkel. The LS1 had a milder cam that emphasized low-end torque over high RPM breathing, choked it down with a restrictive air cleaner, and gave it 2.56:1 gears out back. It was an attempt to have massive torque while minimizing the potential fuel usage.

Is that even the correct snorkel for a 1969 427? I thought they were shorter maybe?

LS1 HAD A LONG SNORKEL, L36 HAD A SHORTER SNORKEL.

The ad was updated with more pictures. It has the GM Canada VVS document, which shows that it should have a black interior. I like the tachometer in the clock position.

The tachometer is listed under the RPO codes, however, it is ACC, so it was dealer-installed. Is this the correct unit on this Impala? If not, where would the dealer mount the tachometer?

maybe this unit?

Yes, that is the crazy little horizontal faced accessory tach that mounts on top of the dash. As far as the parts books and the assembly manual are concerned there is no in dash tach for a 69 Chevrolet B body. I always welcome correction if I'm wrong with that statement but I'm quite certain the tach in this car is an aftermarket/reproduction piece.

This is the style of the accessory tach for on top of the dash.

Those are old VVS docs. I wonder if they'd provide more information today like selling dealer etc?

From what I can figure, the tach in the 69 is a repurposed unit from the 68 B-body.

The LS1 427 was basically the larger version of the L35 396 325hp. 10 more HP and more torque.

Or it could be this?

Looks like this is the unit, probably fits nicely in the 69 clock pod. As you can see there is still the clock adjustment rod hole in the lense of that 69.

However, I noticed that all 68 tachometers had a bright circle on the needle base, whereas the 69 examples did not.

I met a guy last summer at Plunkett's who has one of these, 1969 non-SS, bucket seat cars.

His is a 4-speed, 427 that he has owned since the early 70s.

Currently under full restoration.

The car will be finished this spring.

Even more rare, a factory two-tone paint job.

I can't wait to see it !
