Anyone near Greely, Ottawa, Ontario?

There is a part I'm interested in and the seller indicates their location as Greely, Ottawa, Ontario. Anyone willing to help out?

Thanks, Eric

Hi Eric.

I'm about 2½ hours away. Not quite next door but a lot closer than you! There is a 50-50 chance that I might be going to Ottawa towards the end of the month. What do you need?

Its an 8-track player. Looks to be close to correct for the missing one for the 2+2.

And you want me to pick it up for you and then ship it? Or check its condition or something else?

Im hoping that someone can do the transaction in person for me. Im a little concerned with randomly sending e-transfers but do trust the fellow CDN Poncho members.

As of yet, the seller has not responded to me. So who knows? Maybe wishful thinking on my behalf.

The same basic player was used from 1969-1972. There are minor differences each year, and some are for 4 speaker systems. I ended up with one for my 70 convertible, I think it's from a 72 with 4 speakers. I made 4 to 2:speaker adapter harness for it.

Each GM Division had their own designs of the 8 track players. While they were of the same concept, there were physical differences between divisions.

Not to derail this but I have working GM eight track players in my 66 Beaumont (a floor mount from a 69 Grand Prix) and in my 69 Chevy CST (factory) and with the addition of a powered subwoofer (hidden under the seat) and my own home-recorded 8 tracks using an Akai recorder, good quality blanks from ebay with a CD player as a source they actually sound way better than the 50 year old stuff you can still find at the thrift stores.  However if you want to use the old ones they are easy enough to fix. it usually takes a new foam or spring pressure pad and a new tinfoil splice and they are good for another 50 years.

There was a guy in Saskatchewan that repairs and sells these GM players.  Not cheap but quite good.

Let me know when the seller replies to you and we'll take it from there.

Whatever you decide to do after reading all these threads ... I had installed an 8-track player on my car a few years ago with a set of speakers separate from the radio ones. Eventually I took it down. The 8-tracks are collecting dust in my basement.

Seller had mentioned that a local was coming to look at the 8-track and they purchased it. Was notified yesterday. Sorry for the slow update.

With regards to the 8-track, I just would like something that looks right. Same goes for an AM/FM radio. Again, currently just to fill the hole and look correct. Functional is secondary.

Thanks everyone for reaching out.
