RE: My 1964 Chevelle Malibu SS Convertible Bulid Diary

Been collecting parts, the 12  bolt is from a 66 chevelle 3.08 possi was told it was a 3.73 which would have been better with the M22, the nice white box is a set of Wilwood Challenger series brake kit, and the brown boxes are a stage 4 UMI suspension kit. I hope to get the chassis done by the end of the year, 3 kids and activities almost every night leave little time fro the car.IMG_20140405_114248.jpgIMG_20140405_124049.jpgIMG_20140405_153420.jpg

You're going to love the Stage 4 UMI Kit... I've been looking at doing the same thing, but avent actually pulled the trigger on the brakes/wheels/suspension yet. This is going to be an awesome car. Great job so far.

RE: My 1964 Chevelle Malibu SS Convertible Build Diary

Picked this up yesterday, freshly powder coated, used Riteway in Calgary and have to say they were very very reasonable on price and good to deal with. biggrinframe.jpg

Got the front disks on, let me tell you it was not just a bolt on and go, upper holes need to drilled bigger  on spindle and re-threaded, bottoms holes drilled out for 3/4 and then had to machine down upper bosses to center calipers on rotor. Took me about 5 hrs extrafurious.IMG_20140916_190829.jpg

Next little project finished, went to the wreckers and bought a steering box from a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, bought a rebuild kit from Bowness Auto  not one but twice because I pinched one of the Teflon seals, still did the whole project for $140 plus my time. The box bolts right in to the chevelle frame. You just need a new rag joint and IMG_20140923_190829.jpgIMG_20140923_190837.jpgIMG_20140928_143705.jpgIMG_20140929_175053.jpgIMG_20141019_160359.jpgIMG_20141019_160420.jpgIMG_20141019_160431.jpgsome inserts for the hose connections

I know its been awhile life and kids slow things down, installed the steering box and the front steering linkage, not happy with  how tight the linkage is to the frame, may have to install the old stock one and refurbish.IMG_20150523_161156_hdr.jpgIMG_20150523_161207_hdr.jpg

Got these rims at the Red Deer swap meet, spent many hours polishing them, got tire installed the other day, NOW I HAVE A TRUE ROLLING CHASSIS!! Very happy about that. Hope to do a few more things before going in for back surgery end of next month that will slow me up for awhile again.IMG_20150523_161231_hdr.jpgIMG_20150523_163445_hdr.jpgIMG_20150523_164543_hdr.jpg

I did a lot research on this and I found a great thread about it on chevelles.com in their forums section under suspension. The hardest part was pulling the box out of the jeep at the wreckers. It went easy and I just need to get the adapters from lee's to finish it. My steering arm fit with no problem and it bolted right in. Hope this helps.
