I'm listing this car for someone locally who would like to see it go to a good home. It was bought new here in Penticton by her dad, and parked after he died, in the carport. It's been sitting 20 years. As far as I can figure the paint is original, and no part of the car was repainted. It's a 283, powerglide, manual steering and brakes car, and shows 100,026 miles. Dale, (Nohope) got the car running and moved it out of the carport on Saturday, by adding a battery. So it runs, steers, and stops. This could be a driver for someone, or a good source of parts for a restoration on something else. The quarters are rusty, and the drivers fender has rust on the bottom. Pass fender has rust bubbles. The floors appear solid, as does the frame. The trunk is full of studded snow tires on rims, and there is rust on the floor, but not perforated.
If someone needs it looked at more closely, I can go back and take more detailed photos when I have more time. I'll post the photos, and answer what questions I can. The asking price for the car is $1,000.00. She has asked me to take questions and do the dealing on it for her, but any offer needs her approval. Both Dale and I have told her that the car may end up being a parts car, but she hopes it can find a good home as someones driver

There is some damage on the pass quarter panel, and all the trim pieces that are missing, are in the trunk. The seats have been covered since new, and the windows have been covered on the sunny side since it was parked. Even the carpet is nice. The rear bumper has a minor dent in it, and the front is as nice as it can be, no dents at all, not even on the point! No chips or cracks in the windshield either.
More photos!

This looks like it would be an ideal car for somebody new to the hobby or re-entering the hobby who would like a decent old car to tinker with.
Would take a bit of cosmetic bodywork (doesn't sound like it needs structural welding) and a paint squirt, but looks like a solid old car that would clean up pretty well otherwise.
Other than the bodywork, it looks like a few weekends to freshen things up and you'd be ready to go. I bet the interior would look pretty good with seat covers removed and a little general cleaning.
Probably have to pop on a set of tires as well.
The price doesn't seem bad, really. It would likely sell for at least that asking price if it were on the east coast. In the west - the land of plenty - probably not so much.
Sounds worthy of checking out for somebody who isn't allergic to 4-doors.
For east coasters, the $2000 - $3000 shipping costs would make it not so sweet.
I priced-up shipping a medium to large car from BC to NS last fall with a major carrier who runs enclosed trailers - price was around $2000, and that's knowing somebody in the company. My impression was that "Joe off the street" would pay $2500+
$1000 sounds more like Ontario/Manitoba money to me, unless you know somebody who ships coast-to-coast really cheaply... Hopefully somebody will find that car who will really get some old-car-hobby enjoyment from it. It looks too good to become a parts car.

Joe says, "You are correct".

Good point. I forgot to figure in the cost of gas (lol). That would likely bring the cost close to just having it shipped (rough calculations bring the fuel cost alone to around $1200).
That, and what would happen if, say, the motor blew up in Manitoba or you lost a wheel bearing while passing through Northern Ontario, etc.
Would be an adventure, but not necessarily a cheap one.

Maybe I should drive it across for expences and a plane ticket! Make a nice little holiday! :)
That sounds like a "win-win"... you get a memorable trip across the country and somebody gets a great deal on shipping!
Might be a little more work for you debugging the car before the trip so as to avoid being stranded, though. You'd probably have to work out some kind of arrangement for ownership/insurance too, as I see that could possibly be a little complicated.
Between, possible repairs, acommodations, meals and $1.40 per litre for gas....might be cheaper to pay the $2500., for shipping. I occasionally see ads for shipping on kijiji from guys who are returning without a load or who have an empty spot on their trailer.... bet they are cheaper.

I would agree. A "memorable trip" could turn into a nightmare quickly.

My first Pontiac memory was being exposed to the "double" of this car, right down to the 283 and the hubcaps. My friend's brother had one in about 1980. It was his first car, and he had it repainted in a very dark purple and put (ahem) yellow shag on the parcel shelf, along with the Craig surface mount speakers. Apart from the shag, it was a great car.
I'm halfways tempted to buy this, paint it, park it in front of his house and hand him the keys.
Otherwise, I hope it finds a good home. It's in pretty decent shape.
