The SD396 models are the most desirable Beaumonts today (Mark IV-v8-325 & 350 HP). Only 451 were built in 1967, however, and most succumbed to the harsh Canadian winter climate, which makes them significantly more rare than equivalent Chevelles and desirable to some collectors. The SD series was available in both 2-door hardtop and convertible body styles.
i don't know how to make the picture larger.It is a 1954,sorry my mistake hit wrong key, only 3600 made have all documentation.person who had this car had a frame off restoration with over 70000 invested.some of these beaumont owners are dreamers,i had 50000 cash looking for an sd for the last couple of years as you guys can see for i advertised on here.it is more sentimental value that keeps the price high on these vehicles. i can have a 67 sd rebuild off frame for that money but didnt want to wait 2 years,that was my mistake. if anyone is interested in this corvette and wants better piks email me.just for you guys that think you know what this is worth i turned down 55000 and i believe something is only worth what someone is willing to pay

The reason there were only 3600 built is because nobody wanted them - they were the first GM attempt at cashing in on the market for European sports cars that our returning GI's had discovered - MG's, Austin Healeys, etc. The 54 Corvette (identical to the first of the breed, the 53) was anemic (although possibly peppy for the time), not comfortable (no roll up windows), and had the same outmoded king pin front suspension as the other Chevys of the day. Plus it only came with a slushbox, hardly sporty, eh?
It was not until 1956 that the REAL Corvette came into being. Styling is of course a matter of personal preference but the 56-57 is way better looking that the 53-55 Corvette - and the famous small block V8 plus stick shift (the 54 was only available with Powerglide) made it infinitely superior performance.

You turned down $55k cash ??? Whoops !!!!! And now your here informing us that sentimental value is keeping Beaumont SD's price up Ha! Ha! Go ahead and find one any where! You could sell a Malibu,Corvette,Camaro,
Nova ect. Any day of the week and buy a better one the next for less then the one you sold Period. Lots of Chevys available everywhere because lots and lots were made! I waited thirty years to find one in my budget range and it needs a full restoration. If I advertised it at 10k tomorrow there would be trucks and trailers here in a heartbeat to load it up. Yes sentimental value plays a big part of it for sure but Rare is Rare. As what was said in another post you should sell the Vette and get the cash to finance your purchase of a project car, and get the project started sooner then later. Soon it won't matter how muck money you have it will be NFS ringing in your ears. Maybe call the person up who offered the 55k and see if that offer is still good,or with the economy is that now 30k. reply to gary1965 like I said in my previous reply some of you guys are dreamers.you can ask 200000 for a 67 Beaumont sd that doesn't mean you will get it.something is only worth what that person want to pay for it. you don't like the price you just hold onto it and hope for the next guy.here you go assuming a 1954 corvette is worth 30 k and a 67 Beaumont is gold. there is classic cars out there beside 67 Beaumont.go on a corvette site and type the same statement in their forum and see your response. if you look at my my ad I was hoping someone would be interested in a trade and I didn't need you to appraise my car
I sense that your best bet is to sell the Corvette in a forum where it's better appreciated. You'd have better luck if you had a 67 big block, which would be of more interest to muscle car people (who are the likely owners of the SD you're after). Your Vette is very unique, and I know there are people who see the value. I suspect they aren't likely muscle car enthusiasts. Their other cars are probably Aston Martins, E-type Jags or maybe stone stock Pierce Arrows..
67 SD's do come up for sale. They are rare, and they are popular, so if you're looking for a 10/10 car, it'll take some patience, and likely a fair bit of cash. Rebuilding an old SD to concourse condition is probably as difficult (possibly more) than rebuilding the '54 vette. No one is re-popping the little 67-Beaumont-specific pieces, and anyone with one of those pieces is likely hanging on to it for their build, or possibly as a spare for their car (knowing that if they sell it, they'll never get another if they need it).
As for 'dreamers', I've been offered fair prices for my car. The answer was "Thanks, but No". When pushed for a number, it's been high enough to make them go away. Guess I fall into the Dreamer category.
But - you never know. There are other 'collectors' out there and one might have a 67 SD but wants a 54 vette, so I can understand your post. Good luck with your search.
Shiky My comments were not meant as an appraisal of your car and I truly meant no disrespect. Upon seeing the blown up picture 427 Carl provided your Vette looks very nice indeed. As was previously posted you should maybe post it for sale on a Vette forum where there will be someone looking for one just like that and knows that it couldn't be built for that price! Beaumont owners maybe dreamers about their cars worth, but when you want one and none are available and you do find one pull the trigger fast or someone else will. Just plain old rare is only gonna keep the prices up and someone always has deeper pockets. I remember that forum member Mike67sd was thinking of selling his 67 Sport Deluxe coupe last year but I don't think he actually sold it (he's a busy guy and sometimes hard to reach). He's in Ancaster (near Hamilton) Ontario and has owned a couple of 67 SDs.
He doesn't get on here much and he hasn't been on since March, but there is a potential lead for you regardless.
As for the 54 Corvette, well most contemporary cars back then were low on power and creature comforts. The original Corvettes were produced at a time when most sports cars didn't have roll-down side windows anyway. They sure were pretty, but as I understand, to drive one in stock form was to be let down. We all know that Duntov really got down to the job of improving and refining the design and he soon had the Corvette as a well-respected and capable sports car.
