Pics of Canadian 65 deluxe seat belts needed please

Hi, I have 65 standard front belts by Dominion in my 65 Impala SS convertible.

I have pics of the 66 standard and deluxe versions, but have been unable to find what the 65 deluxe version looks like.

Thinking the buckles are all chrome, but I really can't remember.

Welcome here. I assume you are the same Oshawa65SS I see over at Chevytalk?

And good luck with your search, I hope someone here can help you.

Internet says the 65 and 66 standard belts are the same .hmm   Would the 66 Deluxe not be the same for 1965 ?

Here's the standard buckle for 65 in my car:

Here's the standard buckle for 66:

Here's the deluxe set for 66, maybe 65 buckles are the same, but I highly doubt the retractors were available in 65:

Thanks for looking, but those are 65 US version deluxe belts in both pics with the fisher stage coach emblem.

You did solve the mystery of 65 vs 66 deluxe belt retractors though.

I have a pair of those NOS roll-a-belt winders, but not the rubber bolt covers.

There are patent numbered and patent pending versions of the winders to consider re date coding a car.

First let me say " welcome aboard ".
The pic that you call the standard buckle for 65 is a match for my 65 Parisienne CS

Here is a Canadian '64 (maybe earlier) Dominion belt with the correct belt winder.

Here's an ad in Quebec for 65 Pontiac parts.
One of the pics is of a set of 2 seat belts.
They, if they are original, appear to be the deluxe version.

Thanks for the pics and the kijiji link.
The blue belt buckles have no recess in the top like mine, but they have white tags.
Mine don't, so I assumed that was US only until later on, I guess I should have tags after all.
The recess in my buckle looks like it could accommodate a metal decal and then be called deluxe, I wonder?
The blue belt 3031 date code is a head scratcher, nothing like the US format for which decoding is widely understood.
Could be 1963 March 1st day or 1st week, but without seeing different tags it's tough to say.
If the 4th digit is always 1,2,3 or 4 then it's week, but if there's a 5th digit then it's day of the month.
The kijiji belts sure look original to the car, but if they're deluxe, the red rubber bolt covers are missing.
Retractors were sold separately and could be added to a standard belt set though.
The kijiji belts have what I thought were 66 standard buckles too, perhaps Pontiac used a different buckle than Chevy, but then again my buckles match norontcan's 65 Parisienne?
Running change? Different suppliers for whatever it takes to keep the line moving?

Do you lose points at shows if belts are close, but not correct?    Or do they just have to work .

Found a few pics of my belts (original low mileage Parisienne CS.... I've had it since it turned 36,000 miles and know all of its history )

This is the buckle.

Here's the date stamping on the plastic.

You'll note in the second and third pic there is a small piece of paper wedged between the webbing and the plastic. Here's what it says.

I'll have to take a pic of the label sewn into the belt as it specifically mentions the interior code.

That would depend on the judging class which gets progressively fussier the higher you go.

You'd be worst off for the wrong year of buckle or retractor, then it would drill down to mismatches like standard belts with the deluxe rubber bolt cover added or deluxe belts without it, or deluxe belts without the roll-a-belt retractor (to cite a 65 example), missing tags, and finally incorrect date codes on tags.

Stuff like that great inspection paper is a bonus, not a requirement.

Thanks for all the pics!

Looking forward to the white tag info, and the inspection paper is a big plus.

Sorry no help on this one. Mine is a typical Cdn base SS no options. All mine had were the base black belts you have. I upgraded to some nice red ones from a 73 olds to match the interior better.

Feel free to post up some pics of that convert, these guys don't bite, they even let me bring a Chevy to coffee nights....

Went out to the storage garage and looked at the belts. Contrary to my old memory there were no sewn white tags. Sorry ( this getting old sucks ). Both sides had the inspection papers in the buckle side bases.

The stampings on the plastic say 3 30 65 on both of the bases for the buckle side of the belt .... this may not have been readable in my other post.  Looks like just in time manufacture/delivery had it down to about 5 weeks as GMVVS says the car was manufactured on May 4th.

Thanks for the confirmation that your belts match mine.

If you don't want the originals, I'll buy them and use them in the rear.

They'll be longer than the dealer accessory rear belts as spec'd in the 65 Accessories Installation Manual, but belt extenders were also sold as an accessory so it's not a safety issue.

I can always get them rewebbed to be hard core correct anyway.

Let me know thanks.

Good to know your belts that are a match to mine have no white tags sewn in.

I did think the Canadian belts didn't have them in 65 anyway, later on, but I don't know what year it started.

That's an easy date code format, the code on the white tag of the blue belts I'm not sure about.

Weird that they're earlier, yet have a white tag sewn in.

I would have liked to pin it on a different manufacturer, but they're Dominion as well.

It's a mystery to me.

Mine are Nov. 27 '64

They have a home in the wife's convert as it had none when we got it. Aquired some almost matching ones for the rear as well. By the look  of them, 66 base ones.

Glad to hear the belts found a home and not the trash can like so many good parts back in the day.

Checked out the link re 66 Canadian deluxe belts, but a 65 Canadian deluxe belts pic still eludes me.
Well the buckle anyway, this thread has pics of the deluxe 65 retractor setup.
