Edelbrock Carbs?

I recently bought an Edelbrock Performer Intake for my Laurentian's 350. Now I need to get a carb. I am thinking of going with an Edelbrock Carb. Is anyone running one? If so, any problems? What about linkage? What CFM are you running?
 Thanks
 Todd

You are talking about an Edelbrock that is a Carter AFB design, are you not? Efelbrock also makes a Quadrajet replacement, thats why I ask.

I run a 500 Carter on my Pontiac. It works well, idles good, etc.........It is not great on gas. I am planning on rebuilding a Quadrajet this spring and trying it out to try and improve mileage.

On my truck which also has a Chevy 350 in it, I have a 650 Edelbrock........ Much more power, but still a pig on gas.

If I was to choose again, I think I would go for the spreadbore design...........The Performer intake will take both. Gas prices today are a big factor in that. When I put these carbs on, it wasn't such an issue............and the fact that I got them free............LOL

I used to run a 600cfm on my 327. It was really hard on gas.
Then I realized, I was heavy on the pedal.
With the dual exhaust, I noticed I could ease up on the peddle and the exhaust note would change, but the speed wouldn't.
Now when I drive, I drive with a light foot while cruzin.
I'll have to see how that still works after I get one of the cars back on the road.
I'm now running a Holly 750cfm and I've got a spare 780cfm to play with.
Far too much carbs for auto trans. But I've got them, so I'm using them.
I've heard good things about the Elderbrock carbs.
I think the Quads are probably the best for mileage because of the double or triple venturi design.

I don't regret passing on rebuilding the Quadrajet and going with the 600cfm Edelbrock Performer. Bolted it on, started the car, never touched a mixture or idle screw, no BS. It has excellent driveability and performance. Can't say much about gas consumption because I don't pay attention. Edelbrock lost the rights to the Quadrajet so if you find one it will be expensive. The only thing I don't like is the non stock look, but a lot of cruise goers think it is great because I got the shinny chrome finish. Anyway, the 600cfm it is an excellent carburetor on a 350 and will work perfectly with your inatke. I did have to buy some linkage brackets but my Performance Improvement guy fixed me right up. Look at my post under 71 power train.
