RE: 1968 Beaumont SD 396 #s match

I must have been revising the auction at the same time.  Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330208012216&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=014

The SD trim down both sides of the car is worth a good bit. Headlight bezels and taillight bezels are 68 Beaumont only items. The steering wheel emblem, SD emblems, Beaumont emblems and Beaumont spear are tough to find. I can see $3-4000 in parts if parted out and quite possible more. I would like to have the drivetrain for my car. This one was built about 3 weeks after mine.

Well, I bid on it for fun, and would pay the bill , should I win, but I would part it out, or keep all trim, and find a better, southern shell.. thanks for your thoughts on value of parts..Carl 2

Hey thanks for the bid Carl. I thought of parting the car but it takes alot of time and dealing with shipping...ebay  etc.wink 800-900 for shipping seems like a pretty good price. Anyone know some good auto transport companies ?  Thanks Pat

SHIPPING   i bought a 2500HD from Houston Texas, and a Jeff Gordon Monte Carlo from New York, and shipping was 750.00 each.. Maybe Carl 1 could pick it up..I really hope your bidding goes over four for you.. We'll see  lol Carl 2

Shipping for a non running vehicle is more than a running one. If it weren't for the shipping cost I would have already bought this car.

quotes on shipping to Ontario have been $1400-$1700, If it goes by rail it now needs to have working brakes including the emergency brake, otherwise its flatbed the whole way. I bid on it last time around. Great car with a ton of great parts wish it could be shipped cheaper

Sold to a member here for $3660. My guess is that it will be parted out. I'm interested in a couple parts if it is.

yes i had to buy the old rusty sd 396 but i new were that car was sitting and had looked at it before but could not get in touch with the owner, this sd 396 will get a restoration and will not be parted, i have 4 68 sd cars and lots of parts and pat just lives across the river from me so no shipping costs , i have fixed lots of rusty cars and have all the tools for full restos, so i will put it in the line up for the full meal deal, the last 68 i did went to readystrip and was dipped and fossfated and turned out sweet! i just cant part out those bb sd cars

Ron, I'm glad to see that you got the car and will restore it. I figured you had extra part because you have outbid me a few times on Ebay. How is the 68 SD convertible coming along?

I agree. Rotten or not, it's an important piece of Canadian car history.
