Canadian Pontiac trivia

I happen to be an automotive trivia nut, with an interest in the unique parts of Canadian Pontiacs. Years ago, I did up a bunch for a trivia test to use when a few of us fellow car guys were on the road to auto wreckings or swap meets. I plan to post some from time to time in the appropriate section, if that's ok. I hope anyone with any to add will do so, or correct my mistakes as they occur!

You know, I just thought of that the other day!

Maybe in the middle of winter (or sooner) we can get back into some of that again. I love that stuff!

And last time I had to eat plenty of crow and learn lots of what I was sure was true was not. It was great!

Glad you brought this post up again Ray. The last time we did trivia, it was fun for all and I bet everyone was educated in some way.

Pontiac Canada ,to my knowledge only put chrome valve covers and air cleaner lid on one engine in the B-Body cars, and for only one year. What engine, what year ?

Cool trivia Elroy. I didn't have a clue that any B-bodies were given the chrome treatment.

Great stuff.
Love the trivia especially if it raises a little contraversy.
It'll help pass the looong winter.

Ya Mike, it was not like Pontiac to do this on the B cars, kinda neat though ! I forgot thought that this was only on the 2+2 model, Carl so thanks for that !

That 64 409 CS I tracked down had chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner, the entire air cleaner not just the lid and I the 65 I posted yesterday has the same,

Hey guys remember this?

http://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/forum.spark?aBID=118110&p=3&topicID=31364018&page=1

That sask 65 409 car is as original as it gets and the engine shot shows chrome. My bros 65 is the same. The Canadian chrome ones are do not have any embossing on them unlike the chevy ones.

64 409 may have had the same treatment.

Thanks Ken that's how the 64 looked as well. The higher horsepower versions had a dual snorkle chrome, the single was for the 340 HP.

So you are saying the air cleaner in the shot 3 frames above ^^^ is chrome?

It looks black in the picture, so I wasn't quite following you guys because of that.

Yes i stand corrected on the painted base, it's just that on that style of air cleaner you can't see it easily. I love it when I am right !!! That's twice today w00t.gif
