RE: Beaumont Registry

I am not an expert but I would vote that one is not an SD based on the build date.

Yes, and I think even after the 738 came out you could still get a Custom with buckets and a small block, right?

Good question. I think they used 138, 738 was for Beaumont.

Not sure about when the 138 began though.

I know of 4 Beaumonts that have no intentions of being in a registry, to bad, one of them is one of the last Beaumonts built for that year of production, could possibly be the last one of its model and engine configuration. Buddy says Hello with his two

Too bad, that would be the owner's loss

If we all just read what others contribute and don't give out what we know, not much help. What if we all were that way? Where would we be in this great hobby?

+1 on "that's a shame".

carl, you just got me to thinking.... the sheets that i have for my car include 738 BBC cars, so i have sheets with both 736 and 738 SD cars... on the same month...

now i have to find the paperwork, i received mine from GM about 17 years ago ... i cant remember if it was from the paperwork from my car, or the gold/gold 736 sd that i sold....

andrew

Before this gets thread gets too far off topic can we all please post topis in the appropriate thread.
I think what Andrew may have is information regarding the change from 736 big block to 738 big block. It would be nice if we could pinpoint this date. I am not sure that we have a thread started for this information but it is alright to start a new thread.

Sorry guys, I have found 2 pages of the Monthly Listing of Vehicles Shipped, and neither had a 738 car on them. These are from my car and the gold/gold sports option that was parted out. Mine was built Sept.16-66, and the last car that sheet was Sept.19, covering car #382-435. The other sheet is Sept.29-66 to Sept.30-66, covering prod. #971-1028. So no holy grails here! Although car #432, a 4dr HT, was scratched from production and the log went from 431 to 433.

I did have some other info that i had on which i called GM on the two 738 cars that i had documentation sent to me... I'll have to search the house and see if that paperwork is still kicking around, although I have my doubts...

Nonetheless, is there a way to decode the Trim Combinations? And strange why some cars on the list have a # under the "top" column, and others which may have been original vinyl roof cars do not...

Andrew

That IS strange.

Would you be able to blank out the key codes and post those pages anyway for all to browse?

C08 Exterior Soft Trim Roof Cover
D55 Front Compartment Floor Console
A51 sports option or bucket seats?

just an assumption? could be just a custom with buckets ?

Could be a bucket seat custom, yes. We need to see a big block 736 car sometime late Nov/early Dec to help the cause! At least we would know that one would be an SD.

wow, that granada gold stripe car would be a nice one to have!

I'm thinking the 736 cars with A51 are not Sports Options, as the they also list the D55 console, which was not listed seperately on the Sports Options cars that i have documents for (only A51)...not a precise theory, but a theory nonetheless...

Carl1, did your 67SD convert have a posi? although not listed as an option i would have thought it was standard equipment? yet others list the option code...so i guess they came standard with an open rear??

BeaumontGuru can chime in on the other option codes for export, i asked him before but forgot what they were now...extra fluids or something? Dave W would know these also, but they are not listed on the canadian classics website...

Here are some other oddball codes: A75, A76, T72, X17, X24, W89, L92

No BBCs on either pages of mine... if i had to guess, i'd say it was early production before the L34 was even offered on a 736 car... Perhaps Ken can chime in with the build date of the 736vin 396 convertible from Shaunovan, SK that sold recently....
