Hello from Strathmore AB.

Hello to all the Canadian Pontiac owners.  I love this forum.  Good to see all of our UNIQUE rides.  I have a few questions that I hope to find answers for now that we have this forum.  My car is a 1967 Beaumont SD396 350hp 4 speed.  It is Granada Gold and is supposed to have stripes.  No power steering or brakes.  It has been part of the family since 1980 when my father purchased it for a whopping $4500 in Calgary.  Plenty of money for a 13 year old car at the time.  I am hoping to find some history on the car prior to 1980.  I know it was used quite a bit for drag racing as it had 6 or 7 gauges in the dash above the glove box.  It also had a Pioneer stereo hanging below the dash and speakers in the doors.  It appears as though the battery was in the trunk, holes underneath for a driveshaft loop, a hurst shifter and brass bushings in the four link.  The original engine and trans were long gone but the rest of the car has its original appearance.  My dad restored the car in 1981 with used door panels and had the holes in the dash filled.  The car is currently undergoing another restoration mostly due to age and weather. (wasn't always garaged).  I am also trying to find out where this car was originally sold.  According to my GM of Canada documentation, it was sold by this dealer # 83024.  The dealer is no longer in existance, so I don't know where it was originally sold.  HELP PLEASE

Wecome aboard and good luck with your information search. I have read all of the posts and I can tell you one thing for sure. If someone here has any helpful information they will help out. What a great group!
Did you contact Vintage Vehicle Services for your documentation? All the paperwork I have received always listed the dealer by name.
If you have had your documentation for quite a while it might be worthwhile to contact George to see if there is any new info available on your car.
Again, Welcome Aboard.

Thanks for the welcome guys. My doumentation is from 1991 when the service was still free. Probably worth spending the $$$ to have it researched again. Keep the all the great posts coming, this site is too cool!

Welcome !

BEAU BEAUMONT 67 ! I always loved the Beaumonts ever since I was a kid in early 70's. A friend of mine had a nice black one in Regina back in 1985. No offence to the Chevy guys but I think they are a little nicer than 1966-69 Chevelles.

Welcome aboard. That is a great car, cool history about it being drag raced. Any more info on that? Great colour for that car too!

Don't think he's snubbing you if he's not replying here! I know his computer access is limited sometimes.

Trust me, 67SD396 IS a bona fide car nut and would like to be on here more!

Thanks for all the replies to this post. I had forgotten all about it. If you look back at the first post, it was from Jan 28. I don't get the chance to check back here everyday. Thanks for the compliments on my "baby".
As for updates on how her restoration is going, all I will tell at this time is that the frame and drivetrain are separated from the body. The frame is out having a "blast" while the body is lonely at home. And to make matters worse, the body has claimed she was in need of a heart and lung transplant. Feeling sorry for the old girl, and knowing she lost her original's a long time ago, I felt obliged to give her a "new" transplant. She won't know the difference, since the "new" will be dressed in "old clothes". A couple of other upgrades are occurring too. The old girl was complaining about her stopping power with drum brakes and was jealous of all the other girls with shiny discs behind the wheels. Once again, who am I to argue? As well, she started to complain about how difficult it has been to turn corners. She had always gone fast in a straight line and now she thinks it would be fun to turn corners just like her TA cousins. So, to help her out, she gets lowered, better sway bars, power steering, and all new steering & suspension components.
Right now, she is in many pieces and needs plenty of love and attention (which she does get). I have plenty of progress pictures but she's a little embarrassed to show her face until she's looking her finest. At that time I'll post a full picture story, showing the rebuild of my old girl.

It sounds like she is getting the "full body and facial makeover". You must be pretty excited. I know that it takes a lot of time, effort & money but it is definitely worth it at the end. Keep us posted with some pictures.
 Don't be a stranger.

Her lonely frame after a steam clean and prior to having a "blast".

Evidence that she used to run down the 1320 back in the day!

Sad but true, someone painted the firewall black at some point.

Her old "heart and lungs".  1968 427ci 385hp out of a Canadian Poncho donor car.

How she was before her makeover!

It always is a bit scary seeing a car taken that far apart!

The black firewall sure looks out of place knowing it's a Canadian car.

4 speed, no power steering and brakes makes it easy to figure out what the original owner had in mind!

I'm thinking the engineering on those tow bar tabs didn't take a full Saturday either.....

Hi from Three Hills. I appreciate your frame off there. I'm going that way with my 67 & could probably use some tips. We're not too far apart there, ever come to Three Hills Cruise Nite ?

I will answer for 67SD396 as he won't likely see this. I'm in Manitoba and happen to be his uncle!

He may or may not answer you here for a while as his schedule does not permit the excessive amount of time to spend on here that I enjoy. However he and I keep in touch regularly and I will relay a message to him about your response to this thread.

Yes Elroy, I have been to the Three Hills cruise.  My Beaumont has only been there once and that was back in 94 I believe.  One of my favourites.  Carl was correct in saying that my schedule doesn't permit me to reply here too often.

Hi, nice ride!, Im kinda partial to the Harvest Gold for 67, I grew up with a gold 67 Chevelle S/W. Lots of folks on here to help with your car, plus look through past postings, you never know what you'll see. 65beau

I wonder as well!   In the early 90's, I was at the track with this car.  A fellow walks up to me and says "hey, I know this car.  Did it used to have 6 gauges in the dash, above the glovebox?"  I confirmed that it did but my father had removed them and repaired the dash in 1981.  He then proceeded to say that  "one of the previous owners was going to rebuild the engine and when he went to install new 396 pistons, they were too small.  This car had a 427 in it!"
I have my doubts about this story, thus I never followed up on it until reading about the Cheetah in the past year on this site.  My car was sold new in Sask. and ended up in Calgary.  The dealership that it was sold at is long gone.  I keep searching for history and past owners of the car and hopefully someday I get to the bottom of this rumour.  There are many signs that this car was used for drag racing from new....holes in the trunk for the battery, holes in the floor for some sort of cage, holes in the floor for a driveshaft loop, holes in the firewall for all the gauges, brass bushings in the fourlink, and the towbar tabs on the frame up front.  I am only missing 13 years of history for this car but I have had no luck finding it.  Hopefully someone in the Calgary area notices my car on here and can fill me in with some facts.
