The age of users on the forum

Hi Everyone
I wanted to take a poll to see what age groups are using the forum. I often wonder where the car hobby is going and if there is interest in the younger people out there.
I know when I go to shows and cruise nights the young guys come out and think the cars are cool. Are they stepping up.
 Let's find out.

I'm 55 1/2, so I had to go 55-60.making me feel old.

I find the younger guys are gravitating more to the so called Rat Rod stuff............probably because if the finances involved to fix something up right. Maybe once they acquire more money, or more skill to do it yourself, it will change. Hopefully some younger guys will speak up.

Guess I'm the majority too. I want to thank you guys for pulling me out a bad depression for the last three months. Bad news family wise really "clouded my sunny days" but being part of this forum, with other car lovers (fanatics) has given me somthing to look forward to when I come home. Put the zip in my step so to speak.

Hope the information I'm posing is useful to you guys. Let me know.

According to people who know me I've never acted my age. I keep being told to act my age, what's wrong with being and thinking in your twenties.

I have always had a struggle, with mild depression, and winters were rough.. I was displaced at work, 2 years ago, and I have my car hobby, to get me through..You may have noticed, in my posts, that I feel insecure, about my car, because its not a bolt and nut restoration..That probably means I am insecure about me, not the car.. lol You, thanking us, for lifting you up is a MAJOR encouragement.. I am sure many of us, would offer you a ear, if you need it.. We are all little boys at heart, and often need the encouragement, that we may have missed as youth.. GOD bless you CARL 2 @ Clinton

The information is very useful Dave.
As I read this post I was thinking to myself that this is really what the car hobby is all about. Being able to hang out and shoot the bull with people that have a common interest. We are all "car nuts" but sometimes the cars seem secondary. They are just the catalyst that brought us together.

according to my wife i'm the biggest kid going. i sure don't act like that middle aged guy who looks at me in the mirror. it not only the younger guys gravitating to the rat rod. even back then i couldn't wait for the warranty to expire so i could do some modification to what ever i was driving. as for my wagon there wasn't enough of the car to restore it didn't even qualify as a parts car, but the shell will sure make a good rat wagon. and dave i was going to wait for spring but we had some rain and enough of the snow has melted off the tarps for me to get the number off the car

Hey Stephen,

God I hope I have your right name...    I suggested it so we could tell you a bit about the car....   Didn't stop to think what your weather might be like.   Read your post and started "laughing out loud".    Told to close the door I'm making to much noise, can't hear the tv.

I'm really enjoying hanging out here and I don't even own a Pontiac.    Love them, but never owned one.   Not through a lack of trying.

Is it okay if I live vicariously through my brother inlaw?  He owns

1) '57 Laurentian Safari wagon

1) '63 Pontiac Safari wagon

1) '64 Pontiac Parisienne sport coupe

2) '64 Pontiac Parisienne Custom Sport convertibles

Hey Carl,

All i have to say to you is "insecure".....   Must have missed something in your posts.    You come across as a "larger than life" sort of guy.    I mean a 427 in a 66 Strato Chief and your insecure,  I think not.   Sure you're not trying to be at the head of the class.

Come on a sleeper with a 20 lbs sledge hammer under the hood when its needed,  what a car!!!

Im 31 and i know that for some of us younger guys it has alot to do with money and also the know- how to do alot of the restoration. I have found that it is hard to find people to talk to about this crazy car thing because most of the guys my age dont understand why i would want an old car instead of the new mustang or charger, but to each his own.

I grew up with a 67 charger that would shake your teeth loose (my dad sold it just before i was 16, twisted frame he said, bullcrap!!) and i think that has alot to do with my love for old cars, but what does a 20 yr old grow up with? minivans and hondas!! I think its amazing what they can do with a honda(my wife has one that i have to fix) but you dont get that same feeling like when you open up a v-8 and thats what needs to change to keep this hobby alive.....grab a kid and stap him into a car with a big block and then you'll see him scrap that honda for an old poncho!
