Does any one know of or have any info on produstion numbers for a 60 2 door canadian wagon ( as they were only made here) .. i also am looking for a drive train for the car ( it was a 6 I am thinking a bit more umph,,, like a lot more)   i have a pontiac 455 but I WANT TO USE A 409, 427,454 as is is a chevyiac as I like to call Cdnponcho's. Glad to see this forum smile.gif

Both of the '60 Strato Chief 2 door wagons I have were factory equipped with the GMC 270 cubic inch 6 banger - these engines are quite different from the Chevy 235 cubic inch 6 bangers - I have not a clue if the GMC engine was an "upgrade" from the Chevy 6 banger, or if it was the standard 6 for the wagon - I would surmise that 283 and 348 engines were also available as options

Carl - YES - you are correct - it is a 261 cubic inch engine - not the 270 I put in my post - a real oddball to find parts for - fuel pumps, water pumps, carbs are all different - also, the engine appears to be a little longer in length than the 235 Chevy - I would bet it has some good torque as compared to the Chevy

Yes, it looks different even from the outside.

I remember my brothers and cousins talking about the 261's beating 283's in the Chevs/Pontiacs when they were out on the highway drag racing.
