I've just started to look at insurance for the Laurentian. I'd be interested to hear who you guys recommend. Obvously I'd like agreed value insurance but also don't want to be tied down with only being able to use the car for "parades". I had Silver Wheel years ago and may go with them again but I know there are other companies who insure old cars. Who do you use? Did you ever have a claim? If I install an aluminum intake and 4bbl carb to replace my stocker 2bbl setup, will my car be considered "modified"? Thanks Todd
todd, they have 2 plans, silver wheel for original and custom wheel for modified. i'm with custom wheel. no problems, no claims either though. bel air is insured for the appraised value, no question from them. they're not strict a far as use, just don't want the car used for everyday transportation. dave.
Do they have that in writing somewhere?.. It always ticked me off ,to think , I was covered driving to Bothwell Show(eg), but not, if I went up town for milk, or drove to visit you at your house... Does it make a difference, if you dont have work to go to? and that brings up the subject of appraisals... most apprasiers I have experienced price the cars waaaay to high.. I had to pay tax on a 12,500.00 Sunbird, that was worth 6500.00 and sold for 5500.00 Then had to pay him $150.00 for the work over....
Talk to Todd, Ken LeBlanc-Ken's Auto Appraisals in Welland calls them on the money ! P.A.V.E. licensed member guarenteed accepted by all insurance companies and also minister of financed licensed to do the retail sales tax ones-PM me and I'll tell you about what to do about the tax ones
Whetter Oaklin has better rates if modified, but if your appraisal doesn't say it has the aftermarket intake its not modified. Talk to Tony Lant I'm sure you'll find that he's a little more open than using the car for parades. Pleasure use, just not to and form work or for regular use
