Neat car, welcome here.

I scrapped a 60 pontiac ragtop last year-I still have a complete dash with original radio-if anyone has interest.

Very Cool car-this going to make me buy something-I can see it coming !

Amazingly Solid....Better shape than my wagon.  Rear quarters are a little rusty, but the rest is fairly solid for sure.   Runs Excellent, I was blown away by how nice it runs.

Don't worry about 427Carl wink.gif

I think he has some of those rare Belair flags on his front fender, but he is in denial and says they came off the assembly line on a Pontiac!!!

i love that wagon!! When you cut the coils did you feel a real difference in the steering, sup, how it handles, etc.? I want to do that in my 59 but like the guys were sayin, it can be a little iffy. I would just be doing it for this summer i think, i have to buy the wife a pool first!!

Wouldn't a pool fit in the wagon? You'd kill two birds that way! The weight of the water would lower the car!

After I cut them it seems to handle better for sure, I put the wire wheels (175/75R14) on it and it really lowers it to the point of scraping over pebbles on the road..>(lol)The normal tires I have on are 225/70R15. (Have to be that big to fill that chevy wheelwell, cause its not a wide track)  I have manual steering and it does make it feel a bit easier to drive.  I wouldn't go more than a coil and a half, that would be way too low, I think if I did it again I'd only remove 1/2 coil. But Hey, I like 'em low (and its a cruiser, not a race car)

Hey Sixty,
Do you ever hang out on the jalopy journal? That website caters to 1963-earlier traditional rods and customs. The forum on there (H.A.M.B -short for hokey ass message board) has over 25000 members and is fantastic. It's worth checking out. I try to check out the site on a regular basis-esp on Fridays when they have their "Friday art show". There is a ton of talent on there. Just don't call your car a wagon on there- they call them "long roofs"..Your car would look cool with a flaked roof! This isn't a poncho but it is a flaked wagon roof:

I also belong to the HAMB....big traditional hot rodding site.

I dont understand this flake roof thing....not that I dont like it, but I think its hardly traditional........maybe a 70s thing....................They go on and on about tradition..........a bit too much.

Ya, you have to watch your comments on there or you go up in flames. Flake is more of a 70's thing.. when you think of it though, that was over 30 years ago..

Considering I painted the whole car with spray bombs(using only my Canadian Tire money to buy the paint) I'm thinking that maybe I'll try and paint some of that Flake, myself. I have a buddy with a garage and the painting equiptment, so it might be fun...LOL and it could turn out crappy, but theres always more spray bombs.
Funny thing, the roof color is called metallic copper, and its awfully close to the original "salmon" color of the car.  My buddy with a 60 Nomad wagon, loves it, (its a lot closer to the Chev color of the same year) The chev color was a bit lighter than the Poncho's

Added a couple pics, one is when I first bought it, and the other was taken in NE Calgary around 1979(when I first moved here), It looks like the same car, but it has chrome around the windows?  Anyways, I thought it was kinda weird that I'd taken a pic of a car(the same color) as one I would buy some 25 years later...  Ken

Heres a couple pics of a couple of other Ponchos I've owned. 58 Patherfinder 2dr sedan, and a 70 Firebird.  Can't find pics of the 65 Custom Sport or the 76 T/A
