My 68 Parisienne 2+2 (396 bb)

Hi guys and gals (I hope),

Here are some pictures of my 68 2+2 hardtop.

I bought it from a fella that had it in the Spring Barrie auction. I didn't buy it
then, but negotiated all summer for a fair price for everyone.

I've done a few things :

base/clear paint
new vinyl top
new tires
top end of engine rebuilt
RV cam
carb rebuild
etc.etc.etc.

You know how it goes ...

I also tracked down all the previous owners. Although the original owner passed away a few years ago, I spoke with her daughter who inherited the car. She says the original lady owner loved jumping off the green line against sportscars, just to give them a shock. Also, an interesting story was that the car was originally verdoro green, but the lady wouldn't buy it unless they repainted it purple. Imagine, repainting a brand new car. Anyway, it was purple for years until another owner changed it to the Turquoise colour it is now. I love the fact that I can go to huge car shows (2000 +) and there isn't another like it. I hope you like it ...

Excellent car and photos, Thanks! I think I know that car. There was one just like  it owned by an elderly lady in the small town of LaFontainne, Ontario about 45 minutes north of Barrie. Everyone tried to buy this car for years and she would never sell, but alas she did pass away. It was always garaged beside her big old classic wrap around veranda farm house on Consession 16 of Tiny Township.

Thanks for the comments. I should have been more specific though. The car spent most of it's life in Vancouver and the island until making it's way to Ontario in 1993. A fella in Acton bought it while searching for Corvairs in BC.

It originally had fender skirts but someone put replacement quarters on that don't have the right wheelwell opening for skirts. I wish it did, because I love these big cars with skirts.

I also love the Grand Parisienne hidden headlights and I thought about changing the frontend to from a Grand Parisienne in a wrecking yard near Smith Falls. We'll see.

Nice car! I'd leave the factory front end. Where are you located? Us SW Ontario guys have to get together this summer. Perhaps for a BBQ? I have a park right behind my house with a roadway so there will be lots of parking!
