RE: Our future shed

Looks like a Pontiac 454 in that pic..........

Well, as I write this (from work!) the concrete trucks should be unloading our floor for the shed. Pics to follow, assuming my kids are following my instructions to take pictures.

I love technology!

I'm 7 miles from home, at work, and our son is emailing me pictorial updates of the concrete pouring...

When I was a kid, it would be science fiction. Now, I can basically watch as it happens and be at work (trying to earn enough to pay for all this!!!)

I sure hope so. Nice cool day, so a good, slow cure for it I would think.

That's gonna be an awesome Shed, LOL. I wish mine was that big, (shed that is) I wouldn't have to worry about the neighbours seeing my junk, LOL.

It is supposed to comfortably cover 6 vehicles.

Problem is, now we won't have the money to buy those 6 vehicles any more!!!

That is another reason why we are here. The closest neighbour would need binoculars to see the junk!!!

Wow!  that looks great!   by the looks of the photo, it looks like, it would take a lot of water to flood..

In 97, another 3 feet of water would have made this floor wet. Still to this day it amazes me how high that water was.

Did your township require any special modifications to your plans in case of future flooding? I had a fun time with our conservation authority when building my garage. There is a park behind my house with a CREEK and they determined I was on the fringe of a flood plain. $2000 in fee's and research later it was proven I was not...furious

Hey Carl

Once it dries ,did you need me to come and put nice black canadian Pontiac footprints on it? Maybe it is long enough if I start at one end on the edge  I could get a little clean spot just as it shifts to second and leave a trailing posi print off the front edge-that would be cool-doncha think? I have two sets of posi prints in my warehouse-ha ha!!

In a way they do Todd, yes. There is a minimun elevation the house floor has to be at (786 ft above sea level) and the garage floor has to be 785 feet.

This yard we are in is about 800 feet from where I lived my first 16 years, so flooding is not new to me anyway. We would not have built our house any lower even if they had not required it. In this case, common sense dictates the height you build to.

Because we build to proper heights, we qualify for asssistance in the event of a flood damaging our property.

You're too late! I already asked how soon I could do a burnout on the new floor!!! Sounds like I have to wait a few weekscry

We have about 10 flakes. Did you guys get snowed on? It looks like it on the radar.

We had to put insulated tarps on the new floor last night. All week, the forecast was good and then it went to crap when it was too late to change it. He says it will be fine at -5 with the tarps on it.

Not too much to update yet. I did a bunch of the dirt work (backfilling) on Saturday. Also had breakfast with our builder and he says about 3 weeks till he starts likely. Right now it's a great basketball court except our net broke the other day!

We blew the budget and got a pad poured in front of the garage right away too.

Well, there is a cistern in-ground behind the house we don't use any more since we have water piped in now. I guess we actually DO have a see-ment pond just like them!

I mentioned the other day that we should cut the concrete slab off the top and have a 10 x 10 in-ground pool that is 8 feet deep...
